Sadriddin Akhmedov is relentless. He could be a star.
I also like what I saw from Mohammed Akbar of England.

Yeah that was a great scrap. I had it 2-1 to Akhmedov but Akbar didn't disservice himself even though he lost. Akhmedov was a little more balls-to-the-wall in this fight but he showed good skills in the quarter-final. And at least we now know that Akbar doesn't have an Amir Khan chin

Pretty fun Super Heavy fight at the moment

USA v Australia at Super Heavy to end the session

This fight is reminding me a bit of Joyce v Yoka

And just like Joyce v Yoka, the pressure fighter loses the decision. Huni, however, threw more power punches than Yoka did and Torrez faded in the third, so I'm OK with the result

The finals are tomorrow, starting from 11am GMT

          Predictions for finals?
49kg: Sachin, India (Jorge Grinan is very lucky to be here. He definitely lost his first fight and arguably lost his second fight.)

52kg: Elio Crespo, Cuba (I wouldn't be surprised if Tsutsami can pull off the upset though)

56kg: Marc Castro, USA (I'm rooting for Samatali Toltayev, but USA boxing paid good money for ****ro to get Gold)

60kg: Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov, Uzbekistan (Johnson relies too much on his athleticism and misses a lot. Bilolbek will take advantage of that.)

          64kg: Tugrulhan Erdemir, Turkey

69kg: Sadriddin Akhmedov, Kazakhstan (Probably the easiest call. Watch me be wrong.)

75kg: Bek Nurmaganbet, Kazakhstan (He's impressed me from the beginning, but it will be a tough bout without a doubt. Hutchison of Scotland is also really good and could pull it off. Middleweight was probably the most talented weight class imo.)

81kg: Roman Savitsky, Ukraine (This one is tough one to call. I'm going with Savitskyi since he has impressed me more throughout the tournament. He can't make the mistakes he made today though. And getting tired against Morrell could be crucial.)

91kg: Vladimir Uzunian, Russia (based off what I saw today. Uzunian looked really good. Pero also looked good, but he got hit more and ended the fight tired. He even admitted himself.)

+91kg: Justis Huni, Australia (Tough one to call, but I have to go with the guy with the two good wins.)

I may change my mind on some of these like the 81kg fight.

Pretty much agreed except I reckon at least 3/4 of the Cubans will win

I'll be pulling for Hutchison too although it's a tough one

Heavy, Middle and Fly are the ones to watch

I hope Grinan doesn't win. Guy is very lucky to be here. I chose Sachin because of that.
I'm starting to change my mind on the 81kg fight. Morrell of Cuba will probably win.

I don't think anything has been posted yet.

Cuba got all four of their guys into the finals though. Liked what I saw from Elio Crespo (52kg) and Dainier Pero (91kg), but they won't have it easy in the Final, especially Pero. The Russian, Vladimir Uzanian, he has to fight is really good. And Pero did tire out in that last round today.
                  The other two looked OK.
The Light Flyweight, Jorge Grinan, is lucky to be here since he should have lost his first fight and arguably lost his second, but his final is winnable.
Morrell at Light-Heavy could also win.
Cuba can end up taking anywhere from 1 to 3 Gold medals, but I wouldn't be shocked if they take all 4 Gold medals.

Not bad for a team you weren't super impressed with. I still don't see any of these guys, except one maybe two, making the Senior team over the next few years, however.
Even if Pero doesn't win I still think he has huge upside and won't be surprised if he makes the Senior team for 2020. Like what I saw from Crespo today. I do still have questions about him though. Charles Frankham of England and Nikita Piskunov of Russia dominated him late last year and this year. I think he is benefiting from them moving up to 56kg.
There is no way Morrell can beat La Cruz. The Light-Heavyweight division was one of the weaker divisions in this tournament.
Grinan fights at Light Fly. I don't see him beating Argilagos.
I could see Crespo making the team. He does look big for a Flyweight though and if he moves up to Bantam he'll have to try and take the spot from Robeisy Ramirez. I mean, as good as Robeisy is I don't think it's impossible. We already know how Robeisy is. Now that he has two Gold medals it may be harder though.

I'm only impressed with Pero TBH and I saw his first fight that you told me about, he's lucky he won it. Maybe the judges liked his aggression and body punching but the other kid landed the cleaner blows. I saw rounds 1 and 3 go to the other kid, don't know where he is from.

What weight do you think Pero would fight in if he were to make the Senior squad? I think 91kg would be perfect, but Erislandy Savon is there.
At that point would you keep Savon, who is still young enough to comeback, but may have already hit his ceiling or would you go with a young guy in Pero who could have a high ceiling.
Savon is a small Super-Heavy but I think he has a better physique to be successful at Super-Heavy than Pero does. Dainier Pero has pretty short arms.
The fighter he fought in his first fight was Nikoloz Begadze of Georgia.

Elio Crespo could take Veitia's spot if he's able to keep making 52kg, but I doubt he'll be able to make 52 for four more years. He's already pretty tall for the weight class. And at 56kg he would need to dethrone Ramirez, which means good luck with that.

I don't see Grinan or Morrell as special talents. Their big moments will be at these Championships. It happens all too often. Really good/great Junior and/or Youth boxers but never make it at Senior/Elite level.
