  • Well there's one thing that we can say about this fight. That is it was a controversial decision begging for a rematch. Ward posturing and saying "he took Kov's heart" is ridiculous and unbecoming of a true champion. This in consideration that the majority of fans had Kovalev clearly winning the fight. For now we all have to accept the decision and get over it. Hey, we have a great rematch to look forward to so let's all get along

" the majority of fans " are ignorant, and wouldn't have a clue

lets not sit here and pretend that not to be the case

just out of interest, who did you pick before the fight ?
Thought there would be an early rounds KO of Ward. Kov was too tentative, given, but I think he'll be at full rolling boil pizzed for the rematch, and will this time finish the job. Another 1 or 2 of those killer rights he dropped Ward with should do it. That was a lightning fast bomb that would've dropped many heavyweights. Amazing punch.

with respect, do you think that may have colored your judgement a little, based on how that fight played out?

I saw a very good post from a Kovalev guy earlier, kafkod.....

When I watched the fight live I was biased towards Kovalev, because I thought he would win and I wanted him to win. When I watched it a second time, trying to be objective, there were rounds I thought Kovelev had won that I realised could have gone either way.

..... all I am saying is, if you had scored some of those very close rounds to Ward instead of Kovalev, like kafkod did..... would your scorecard be closer to a debatable decision, rather than a robbery?

              • "I don't care if he won by robbery, as long as he's black" mentality is strong in this place. Kovalev should of won that fight easy. Saw the fight again, still couldn't give it to Ward. What the fuck is so skillful about jabs followed by clinches?

Robbery is a strong word. The truth is no matter how anyone saw this fight, Kovalev obviously didn't do enough to convince the Vegas judges. He better have a different strategy next time. Basically I think he'll go all out and not leave it up to chance. I would venture to say both Ward and Kovalev learned a lot in that fight and adjustments will be made by both next time.

I stand by my decision. I thought Kovalev won anyway because of activity and accuracy, dropping Ward, dominating 1st 6 rounds, etc etc. Like I've said I thought Ward wasn't as active and certainly didn't dominate the majority of the fight. Makes no difference who I thought would win ahead of time. The end.

I don't think he was active enough, OR accurate enough, and he certainly did not dominate the first 6 rounds etc etc

personally, I think most people saw what they wanted to see in that fight
