if anybody deserved a point deduction its kovalev for excessive headlocks.
Lmao. The headlock was dirty as fuck.

No sense in crying about the outcome now though. Donald Trump won the election - move on. Andre Ward won the fight - move on. Great contest and glad Kovy has an immediate rematch clause...so we'll see them go at it again.

All the people crying robvery and blaming Ward are upet kids or just idiots. Real boxing fans know that was a good fight that was very close. Props to both and I can't wait for #2
If you don't complain about corrupt judging, you're giving a pass to corrupt promoters to shit on paying fans over and over again.

Sidenote, the difference is that Trump won the election fairly whereas the US judges handed the bout to their compatriot fighter.

Stop saying it was a close fight.

If it's a close fight refs disagree. You don't get 3 judges coming in with the same score on a super close fight. And you definitely don't get that when one guy has a 10 8 round.

the whole 'close fight' thing is total bs.

What a tool Andre Ward sounds like. His sole tactic was to put his head down and rush at Kovalev like he was playing a game of American Football. I don't blame Kov for putting him in a headlock. I wish he'd given him a kick in the nuts as well for initiating such crude UFC-like moves.

Andre Ward took zero, zip, nada from Kovalev. I picked him to beat Kovalev because I thought he was the better boxer, boy was I wrong. I didn't expect he'd need that hometown cooking to get the win. He's starting to sound like Tim Bradly after that 1st Pac fight.

Like a few of you guys have already said, the lines of parallel between Ward and Bradley in this position are apparent.

Think about it though, if Ward was to stand up and say /yeah you know what, that was close and controversial we need to do it again', or whatever, then he is totally going against the grain of his image.

Ward always acted greater than he is (riding his Super6 success into the ground while fighting nobody in the process, for example) but now he seems like he has absorbed himself into actually thinking that he is greater than he is. He is held up as this special P4P Number 1 tactical, intelligent and masterful guy that takes you out of your game with his superior craft etc...Is that what he looked like vs Sergey? No...and far from it.

If you lie to yourself enough you can end up actually believing it.

Side note: I have scored the fight twice now and had it for Kovalev both times. Close - but Kovalev. They need the rematch early next year, March-May latest.

People wanted Kovalev to win so badly they're acting as if this was a lopsided victory for Kovalev and he got robbed. This was a close fight that could have gone either way. It just so happened that the judges scored it for Ward.
More punches landed by Kovalev, he was the aggressor landing the harder more meaningful punches, and he was the champ. Should've have 'gone either way'.

Too much tension will wear a fighter out. Lotta pressure to be a great boxer for 12 with a Ward. I think he learned some stuff, and will go in there and be Killer Kov in the RM.
