it's not like Kovalev was getting stronger down the straight, having more success, or winning the championship rounds

once the fight started flowing Ward's way, Kovalev did not do enough to wrestle it back

as usual, an internal inspection would likely help find the cause of the problem, just as much as an external inspection would

this is kinda like Lara/Canelo..... with Lara having a case, but being unable to pinpoint anything tangible that he did to actually win the fight

and the NEW.............

Kov is THEE CHAMPION who has earned it by TAKING it away from the CHAMPION!

CLose fight but even Ward was getting roughed up on the inside which is his wheelhouse and his only advantage!

Lol @ comparing Canelo vs Lara! One was a great fight and the other was a race to a finish and could've been better although it was competitive as well!.

This fight was great for boxing, two elite fighters in a game of violent chess....all the bellyaching is coming from the butthurt Wrd detractors that wanted to see him knocked out...he showed heart, chin and grit that you guys claimed he didnt have....enjoy a full plate of crow....good job ward and kovalev, cant wait until the rematch

on the real, Ward was lucky to win that fight..... but the observers who say that he has no case to win that fight, are simply wrong

that was verrrrry close, if Kovalev had got the nod many fans would be (rightfully) questioning the decision just like some are with Ward.....

no big deal, other than disappointment for the big fella

Sergey will be gutted, ya gotta feel for him

but there are countless similar examples, and Ward could easily be in that boat right now..... awarding that fight to Kovalev would not even be close to the strangest decision that other fighters have received when they lost their title..... that is boxing I guess

I like Kovalev, but I'm a Ward guy from way back..... so I am happy he got the lucky nod on a real tough night out

the very best outcome for boxing..... would be a near identical fight with Ward climbing off the deck once again only to lose a very close debatable decision, setting up a trilogy

GGG has p4p talent... He isn't proven so IMO he isn't top ten until he gets some top comp

Don't think either side should be satisfied with the outcone

Ward dug himself a huge hole in the first 2 rounds and scrapped out a win by the skin of his teeth

Good point. Lara did set a record for most laps in the ring. is that a "tangible"? Lara probably would of won that fight if he would of at least tried to do ANYTHING besides running. Hid landing % was TERRIBLE for such a technical fighter. And he landed almost as much as the slower plodder
