Sergey started great then let Ward back in the fight. It looked like Andre was in for a whole world of hurt to begin with but Kovalev couldn't handle those rugged tactics and it put him off his game, slowly but surely. Ward made it in to a Ward fight and I thought he deserved to win by a whisker - some of those rounds were tight.
It wasn't a great fight as a spectacle but I thought I enjoyed it. Let's go Ward Kovalev II.

I felt the same way, watching it I kept thinking how Kovalev was letting Ward off the hook and he was clearly gonna get broken down by all the wrestling, and then it happened. In the rematch Kovalev has to make up his mind, either stay out of the clinch game or go for the knockout while he has the energy. He can't be boxing with fleet-feet and wrestling Ward at the same time, takes too much energy.

Some interesting points in that interview

Kovalev said that he'd give Ward 4 rounds and he think he was controlling the fight
Complimented Ward's jab, said it was more accurate. He admits that he was getting tired in the last rounds. He said Ward doesn't have no power at all, so the fight felt like an easy sparring for him

Maybe he would of won if he treated it like a Championship fight instead of a sparring match. He clearly looked gas late let Ward back in the fight the 2nd half of the fight. Honestly that early KD was probably a bad thing for him. He got to confident and turned into a chasing head hunter...

Wonder how this fight would have been judged outside of the US - I think we know the answer to that. Ward didn't do enough to warrant grabbing all the belts from KKK. The K won won his rounds clearly and Ward squeezed out some tight rounds - no surprise Kovalev is ****ed off.

Kovalev has to knock him out the second fight, and he will.

But isn't this crazy? That in a professional sport- not WWE, but a real sport, we have to say a guy has to knock another out because he won't get the decision?

Kovalev put on a clinic last night, I dunno what else he could do but basically decapitate Ward in the ring.

kov put on a clinic last night and won his rounds big and let ward barely win enough rounds to beat him. if it was judges 1-12 and not round by round kov wins but the reality is its not

Kov will win rematch, but both fighters will change game plans

He put on a clinic against Hopkins, not last night IMO. He became more inaccurate in the second half, and was hit by several significant shots by Ward, although not all of them were so visible and/or spectacular.

This from a legitimate Krusher fan, mind you.

Kovalev landed nice jabs . he also landed short right hands on wards ear and some rt uppercuts that max never mentioned .

ref never warned ward for holding.

Kovalev earned that win. He put rounds in the bank early and won two rounds late and had a knockdown .

                      Its a shame
