you know i think its all in the way you look at it, every time I have been rocked in sparring the punches actually did not hurt, but the effect in my body told a different story.

but yeah maybe they did not hurt but the punches rocked and dropped him.

" Hurt " is a weird adjective to use when you are getting punched in the head because you really don't feel anything aside from losing your equilibrium and balance. You feel body punches more that punches to the face.

So Ward probably didn't feel like he was hurt by any of Kov's shots but he was rocked badly and stunned a couple of times.

There is a difference between the punches hurting and being "hurt by a punch". When you suffer the later, it robs you of your senses and makes you vulnerable for several rounds. Ward was always in it, even when hit hard.

He's not saying Kovalev doesn't punch hard, only that the punches, incl the KD, didn't drain him. He proved it too because Kovalev is the one who fatigued and slowed while Ward got sharper.

of course he gonna say that no man let alone professional boxer like to admit the other man got the better of them or hurt them or anything like that. We know he did but the true mark of the champion is how he gets back up.

I personally would not come out and make a statement like Ward did after getting dropped, but on the other hand i can see where he is coming from.
