Seems like that is being exposed to me.
You mean like vs Hopkins or Chilemba?

    Ok.

Yeah I respect that. I mean I thought it was close and have said I was okay with a 114-113 either way, but I personally thought Ward deserved it with the great comeback. Reminded me a lot of JMM/Pac 1 actually

The problem is that we all have these narratives that shape how we judge fights. Ward just needs to do a few things and Kovalev must KO to win.
Yeah, I see what you're saying. We all have a little bit of biased in us. Whether we like to admit it or not.
And you're right, that's if I understood you correctly, there was already a mindset set coming into this fight. If the fight goes to the distance then surely it has to be for Ward. There is no way Kovalev can win a decision he can only win via KO/TKO.

I honestly wouldn't have any problem admitting if I thought Ward won. I've never had a problem if I feel like a fighter I like lost a fight or didn't have his best performance.
Ward is one of the fighters that gets a lot of credit for not doing much at times. It's really freaking annoying.
I just don't see how Ward won 7 or 8 rounds. He won 5 or 6 at most which would give Kovalev the win and I'm not the only one; I'm in the majority when it comes to do this.
I just can't see Kovalev winning a rematch. Ward will adapt better. Like I said the first fight would have been Kovalev's best shot at winning. And imo he pulled it off, but didn't get what he deserved.

            • I'm so proud of SOG. Showed the true mettle of a champion by coming back from that KD.

Kovalev was the defending champ as well, so none of the commentators bothered mentioning that the challenger has to go and get it from the Champ.

Kovalev should NOT rematch Ward, zero point, he beat him fair and square and even dropped him. Any rematch would mean he would have to KO Ward and or really batter him because Ward has the full public mindset on his side now.
Dropping a guy doesn't guarantee a win. Technically, you can beat a guu within an inch of his life in 5 rounds, barely lose 7rds, and lose the fight. I don't think it was a terrible decision. But, I think the judges certainly got caught up in Ward rallying and turning the tide in the fight. When you see a guy stunned, and nearly dropped by a jab in the first. Then dropped in the second. Him coming back winning rounds has to generate some emotion. Kovalev set the bar pretty high for himself in the first two rounds and never came close to duplicating that kinda success again. So its natural to feel Ward was getting done what he wanted moreso than Kovalev. Because if Sergey was getting done what he wanted, the fight doesn't make it outta the 4th round. Not saying its right. But that was a pretty even fight after the second, with Ward actually doing the bettwr work. Was it 7-3 type better work? Not IMO. But all the rounds were close, and Ward appears to have impressed the judges more than Sergey.
