So many imbeciles on here! A JAB IS A SCORING SHOT!!!!!!. Ward out jabbed Kovalev all night and out body punched him too! Just because they didn't do much damage don't mean they didn't score.

All compubox should be used for is stats and research purposes for traits, means **** all in the grand scheme of things in all honesty.
A compubox should not be used to influence decisions, If so you weren't watching the fight properly and was just sitting on the fence like a twat.
I agree watch the fight and listen closely as body shots are very hard to tell how good it landef. I also pay close attention to fighters facial expressions and love watching them in between rounds to see the effects of the previous round.

People are engaging in too much exaggeration and hyperbole.
The fight was extremely close and Kovalev didn't win a lot of the rounds that people scored for him convincingly.
For example, Kovalev did not win round three convincingly at all and I scored that round for Ward. I thought he landed the cleaner punches and made Kovalev's head snap back with a few punches that round. It was fairly even, no one was dominant but I gave him that round for the same reason I gave Kovalev round 1.
In Round 1, Ward was winning that round and boxing well. Kovalev landed a powerful jab though and people have been acting like he dominated. I gave him the round because of the power punch but by no means was it dominant. He just punches harder than Ward. Ward landed Jabs like that at will and was doing so in the first round but he just doesn't have the heavy hands of Kovalev
Do I feel Ward won? No! But that's simply because of the knockdown. I just don't feel comfortable giving him the decision in such a close when he was knocked down. The fight was razor thin close and after the fight I didn't walk away with the impression that either fighter was better than the other. They seemed to be pretty even to me. It took Ward sometime to adjust to the length and power but when he did he looked every bit as good a fighter as Kovalev.
For me though, I just am much more comfortable giving the W to Kovalev and if anyone should have won it was him, the early knockdown being the sole reason for that. It should have been a draw or Kovalev should have got the W. No way he loss that fight. Although I feel the fight was super close, I would say Andre Ward loss the fight because he was reckless and off balance early and allowed Kovalev to knock him down. He should have been much sharper than that.

Really?
Ward maybe won 6 at most. That's being generous. No way he won 7 or more. How does that confuse you? It's pretty simple.
****ing idiot.

3 judges did not think it was "a close decision that can go either way".....
most observers do
and some Kovalev/anti-Ward fans are calling it a robbery
personally, I agree with you..... if Kovalev was German and that fight was held in Berlin I think Ward would be flying home empty-handed..... not because he would have been robbed, because there is an question as to whether he did enough to win
NOT a robbery, that fight was very close..... and Kovalev did not look like a champion for most of the second half of the fight, or in the championship rounds
rematch !

I was going for Ward to win but he didn't. This is why I'm starting to get into UFC. There's no way Ward won more than 5 rounds. I gave him 4. Great fight ruined by the judging again. Anybody that thinks Ward won needs to get their eyes checked. And just in case, I don't drink, smoke or do any other kind of drugs. Ward is my brother in Christ. We're both believers in the gospel and serve faithfully but I'm sorry I won't lie for a brother. Ward lost!
