I'll say it again...I had a sick feeling in my stomach when I heard the robbery decision for Hooker vs. Perez. I knew Kovalev was in trouble before the fight even started and he'd need a KO.

I was pulling for Ward but I have to say, from what saw, he fought gallantly but came up short. I have to see the replay but I doubt my eyes have deceived me. Kov won in my book

Ward dictated the entire pace down the back 6 rounds; you add that Rounds 4/5 were also in the lurch, and I'm questioning why your astonished.

Pull the first two rounds and can you point to a single other round where Kovalev was the dominant winner? With Kovalev bringing less as the fight went on, Ward settling into his groove, and Ward consistently landed the far more eye-catching shots (to the head and body), the rounds are there to get Ward to at least 7.

They gave them 8, the 2 point lead knockdown in round 2 made it. The need to give 8 rounds instead of 7.

7 rounds (Ward) to 5 rounds (Kovalev), with Ward losing a point for the knockdown.

7-5=2; 2-1=1; winning scores had a 1 point margin.

Kovalev has been in LA since even before signing with Main Events, Kovalev was the fighter of lead promoter Main Events, Kovalev is the one who'd already fought in Vegas, and Kovalev was the one with the longterm HBO contract.

How does Andre Ward winning help anyone but Ward and Roc Nation? Ward's got three belts, owes no fights to HBO (even if Kovalev does exercise the rematch clause, I doubt that Duva even bothers with the fight if Ward crosses the fence).
