Gutknecht rushed to hospital after Groves fight, had to be resuscitated

George Groves’ opponent Eduard Gutknecht has undergone surgery after falling ill after their fight on Friday night.

Groves beat the 34-year-old super-middleweight by unanimous decision at Wembley’s SSE Arena, following which Gutknecht was taken to hospital.

Gutknecht is sedated and will continue to be monitored in the coming days, according to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

Exactly. George was still missing punches, even when he had the guy standing still. It never looked like it should have been stopped and the main concern was the cut. Eduard was still moving and circling so it looked as if he still had his sense about him.

A corner knows their man well though and they should be able to tell when something isn't right.

Hard to say on this one as some guys do act normal, then drop dead an hour after a sporting event.

Groves is a mean dude. He could be a chop chop Corley against Golovkin.
