I was actually about to type in the fight thread during the fight that after the 10th or 11th that i don't see the point in sending him back out to take a beating.

Groves is pretty heavy handed and he was teeing off for the last 3 rounds or so. I thought Groves might get tired as usual, so maybe they were banking on that but at a certain point it was obvious he was getting beaten up and there was nothing coming back at all. He should have been pulled out but as always hindsight is 20-20.

It was poor from the corner and the referee. Especially considering the state of the eye. I have seen fights stopped for a lot less than that. The body language just was not good either, I hope he pulls through, but if he doesn't I think there are going to be questions asked of the corner and the referee.

He just wasn't in the fight at all, at that stage it wasn't a competitive fight, in fact it was totally one sided and as you said Groves hits hard even with the jab Gutknecht was feeling it, I can't understand the decision to let him continue as if everything was normal. They didn't even have a long hard look at it him, normally in a fight like where it starts getting one sided the referee and doctor will have a look to check the vision, etc.

Not surprised Terry stops fights, he actually used to be a fighter and lost as many as he won. Probably gets flash backs of being knocked out.

All jokes aside, maybe he's trying to let fights go longer as he gets a lot of criticism and that criticism might be in the back of his mind sometimes. That said, if that's true and if you can't put that aside and see it objectively then he shouldn't be refereeing a fight.

I think the corner should have pulled him out though for sure.

Not good. He took a lot of punishment last Night.

I have met him, and greeted him before a fight a few years ago. Seems like a Nice guy.

I hope for a full and speedy recovery.

George Groves’ opponent Eduard Gutknecht has undergone surgery after falling ill after their fight on Friday night.

Groves beat the 34-year-old super-middleweight by unanimous decision at Wembley’s SSE Arena, following which Gutknecht was taken to hospital.

Gutknecht is sedated and will continue to be monitored in the coming days, according to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).
