Seems pretty unlikely, but I don't know if it's as far fetched as a lot of people seem to think.
Great, blue chip winners like Ward often raise their game depending on the threat of the opponent. Ward knows Kovavlev is probably the biggest threat of his career, and I'd be stunned if we see anything less than Andre Ward's absolute best on Saturday night.
No, Ward isn't known for stopping guys, but this is boxing after all. Unexpected things happen. And if anybody is capable of delivering the unexpected...it's a top shelf boxer like Andre Ward.

Excellent Post!!!...Andre is definitely the guy to do it...I see Andre smothering Kov's punches and walking Kov into right crosses he doesn't see...Kov is going to get dropped a few times...for a TKO or KO!

Highly doubtful, would be very very very surprised if Ward stopped or knocked out Kovalev, not a good prediction

If Kov tries to bumrush Andre and fight on the inside he is going to get clipped...the only way this goes to decision is if Kov tries to box and he's not going to outbox Andre Fucking Ward!...

If Kov catches him clean, Ward is going down, Ward's a great boxer, people forget so is Kovalev, it should be a very good fight
I sort of think in a fight of this magnitude if Kovalev falls further and further behind he will have to get increasingly wild so that is where stoppage can happen late. Sort of like when Hatton launched himself head first into a Mayweather check-hook. Hatton was entirely blameless there for me - it was nothing ventured nothing gained territory.
That said Ward really isn't much of a puncher and probably even less so at 175 - so maybe even if he was lighting Kovalev up he wouldn't be able to stop him. He's as strong as a bull though - I actually think that be just as decisive as his skill in the outcome of the fight.
I haven't got a dog in the fight really but I would like to see Kovalev put Ward down early or something because in my head I have Ward metrinomically banking rounds in characteristically uneventful fashion - then it's up Kovalev to push the pedal to the metal which I think he will then it will fun.

We shall see...we know Kov will catch Andre at least a few times...and maybe a few times each round...but what happens when he starts missing 80% of his punches???...getting fatigued from hitting air...stamina plays a big part...and to be honest...this is Kov's first real official test...while Andre has already been battle tested via Super 6 where many including myself thought he would lose...Always bet on Dre!...Dre Day Baby!!!
