I sort of think in a fight of this magnitude if Kovalev falls further and further behind he will have to get increasingly wild so that is where stoppage can happen late. Sort of like when Hatton launched himself head first into a Mayweather check-hook. Hatton was entirely blameless there for me - it was nothing ventured nothing gained territory.
That said Ward really isn't much of a puncher and probably even less so at 175 - so maybe even if he was lighting Kovalev up he wouldn't be able to stop him. He's as strong as a bull though - I actually think that be just as decisive as his skill in the outcome of the fight.
I haven't got a dog in the fight really but I would like to see Kovalev put Ward down early or something because in my head I have Ward metrinomically banking rounds in characteristically uneventful fashion - then it's up Kovalev to push the pedal to the metal which I think he will then it will fun.
I think Ward is going to take the sting out of the fight and turn it into a bit of a borefest and win on points. I really hope I'm wrong. I just want to see an amazing fight.
Ward is gonna win but far from a ko. What's up with the Floyd fans aka ward fans always predicting a ko from fighters that is only trying to win by points?
