McGregor is not at Mayweathers level for career accomplishments, but hes approaching it. McGregor is 1st fighter ever to have 2 UFC titles in different weight classes simultaneously. If McGregor won 170 lb, that would at least equal or surpass Floyd. 3 titles on UFC is more impressive than 5 in boxing bc the amount of lbs bt weight classes is more and boxing has more titles. Floyd never won lineal or Ring championship at 140 lets remember too.

McGregor is the first fighter in the UFC to hold two titles simultaneously because the UFC allowed him to. He got an immediate shot at the title without having to move up the ranks. He is not the first ever two division champion, that title belongs to Randy Couture.
And no, a UFC belt is nowhere near as significant as a boxing belt because belts in boxing hold much more weight historically because boxing is such an old sport with a deep history. Great men have held the WBC, WBA, or WBO welterweight title such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns, etc.
Floyd won the lineal title in 4 weight classes which is still significant and he's had multiple title defenses whereas McGregor is yet to have his first title defense ever!
It's not even close when you compare accomplishments.

A lot of "Americans" hated Rock-and-Roll until Elvis did it! A lot of "Americans" hated Hip-Hop until Eminem did it! I think Mayweather actually made a mistake when he entertained a fight between he and McGregor! By considering him for a potential foe, he gave him the credibility to be considered a peer, his equal, or his equivalent in the MMA!

I think Floyd and Connor know exactly what they are doing with this.

Sadly, many of the peers have yet to understand that the key is getting people to buy a ticket/PPV BEFORE the fight occurs.

You argue that boxing belts mean more, and then list 3 boxing sanctioning bodies...and could've listed more.

You mention divisions Mayweather's held linear titles in, but fail to mention how many more weight divisions there are in boxing.

The UFC offers clarity in terms of championships and divisions that boxing doesn't.
