Comments Thread For: Mayweather Pulls Rank on McGregor: Don't Compare Him To Me!

UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor took a tongue lashing from former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs). Mayweather, 39-years-old, retired from boxing in September 2015 but was recently considering a bout with McGregor. The two fighters were going back and forth through social media for weeks. Nothing ever happened and any talk of them meeting disappeared overnight. In recent weeks, the two fighters have started mentioning each other once again.

White talking about allowing kicks and elbows, he just lost Floyd right there.

      Floyd>Connor in Boxing badly

      Connor>Floyd in MMA badly

That said, I would buy either fight and Floyd and Connor do have things in common because both are the highest earners and money generators in each respective sport.

On a final note, if Connor had done nothing but pure boxing from the moment he put on a pair of gloves at age 5, then I would say he would be a very good match for Floyd at this stage. He has natural power and fluidity in his punches that most MMA fighters simply do not possess.

He fights at 155 and rehydrates into the 170's.

Dana needs to think about saying he'd be cool with elbows if he were to make the fight. I think Floyd gots better elbows than Conor. Keep it at kicks & MMA gloves in a boxing ring.

He didn't mention rounds, but he might wanna go with 3min boxing rounds instead of 5min MMA rounds cuz I trust Floyd in longer rounds more than Conor.

All mental ************ either way, but I like to speculate on a top boxer vs top MMA guy fight & I suspect it'll happen sooner or later with the growing popularity of MMA. Maybe it'll just be Anthony Joshua vs some UFC HW champion 4 or 5 years from now.

McGregor is better in every way. Mayweather is a coward, McGregor is a warrior! McGregor doesn't beat up women like Floyd does.

Rather see McGregor vs Golovkin with hybrid kickboxing rules.

We don't know that for sure. I know plenty of women who have been beat by their boyfriends who never reported it to the police. But it's funny how some of you guys side with the white guy in every conversation over a black guy

But to the article's point Floyd is right as in you can't compare their careers since Floyd was far more accomplished in his sport than Conor is in his. However, Conor's marketing strategy is basically an amalgam of Ali Floyd, and Rick Flair. So the comparison between Floyd and Conor is right when we are talking about marketing alone.
