yes they can, thats how you tackle a slick you hit them hard and you hit them often. you get right up close to them and turn it into a dogfight. you pay them no respect. all you 'pugilists' and know it alls were saying it was crude when people said against mayweather you just have to get right up in his face. lo and behold, a fighter shows him no respect and throws a volume of shots (maidana) and it ended up being his toughest fight in many years. or you can do the canelo/pacquiao approach and pay the guy so much respect and throw single shots and get outboxed for 12 roundsComment

I hate being so rude but you really sound clueless there. Maidana troubled Floyd for 3rds in each fight. He failed miserably. That's your formula for success? 3rds? Yikes...
Gameplanning will have a huge influence on this fight. They should keep their cards close to their chests. The more JDJ talks, the more I lean toward Ward.
As for Ward, I think he thinks at times, he can go inside and work Kovalev like he worked (I think it was) either Miranda or Bika. He'll have some success at that, but will soon learn the body shots will make it not worth it to stay there. Then he goes into full blown grab/grapple/hold/headbutt mode when he sees Kovalev can indeed box, and will cut the ring off eventually, giving Ward essentially no where to go since he has little power. I agree going full blast dogfight for several rounds wouldn't be smart... but then both Kovalev and Jackson appear to be very smart. And they work well as a team. Kovalev does in fact follow Jackson's advice extremely well. Full blown dogfight I think will work for a couple rounds at the very beginning, just no more than 2-3 rounds tops. It will shake Ward up, which is a great way to start the battle. My theories could fly out the window, but I doubt all of them will.Comment
