By Cliff Rold - 'Get in here. Tyson is getting his ass kicked!' When a friend shows up at the door just as the bell rings to end the sixth, the urgency of not missing the replay of the knockdown is palpable. As this is being written, we're still a couple hours shy of exactly twenty years to the minute that the heavyweight title fight most had given up...

It was a great fight. A classic.

I didn't watch it live, too young and not into boxing at that time in my life, but as soon as I fell in love with the sport, man, you get chills watching that fight. Holyfield was an absolute warrior. Real courage. You could see Tyson started to get rattled, and impatient as the rounds went on and ultimately almost helpless, and if you consider the fact that at that time Tyson was seen as an invincible monster, it's just an awesome fight all around.

I was working overnight as a stock boy for Tom Thumb stocking on a shelf when one of the guys came in late. Said he was watching the Tyson vs Holyfield fight. I said who won. He said Holyfield knocked him out in the 7th. He must have left after the seventh cause it ended in the 11th. Aww the good old days

And here we are on the brink of Kovalev vs Ward - another genuine 50/50 superfight - and it's going to do, what, not even 500,000 buys? If they can't sell this gig then boxing will need Floyd to un-retire yet again just to give the sport some much needed attention. I feel like I'm following a minority sport nowadays.

Floyd is the reason boxing is dead. People want to see knockouts not decisions Everytime.

It's the Mayweather paradox: He gets big numbers and his name transcends boxing but on the other hand you could easily argue he's ****** the life out of the sport with his dull as hell mega-promotions.

                  Great call MM. Nice post.

I did watch it live with some gaggle of friends. I don't think any were as hardcore as myself, they were more interested in the party aspect of the get-together.

But the fight for me easily drowned out the white noise of the festivities. It was high drama. And yes, although it was no Tyson-Douglas, it was a huge upset and I admit I thought Holy would get crushed. A great night indeed!

                    Where does the time go?

This was an epic night where everyone (myself included) expected Holyfield to get killed and Boxing once again showed why you should expect the unexpected.

Despite being a fairly one sided fight, Holyfield took some monster shots from Tyson and wasn't fazed abit.
