Thurman, Garcia and Pacquiao are the other champs in the division, holding WBC/WBA/WBO belts between them.

Khan and Bradley, along with Pacquiao, are the money makers for Brook in the division. Including fights that are possible at 154, with Canelo and Smith (you can bet hearn would love this), Spence is barely the 8th guy in the line for the pecking order of Brook's career.

Now, if Spence had done great things in his career by this stage, beaten better opposition and/or won a title, then I could understand people's claim of Spence being avoided but Spence is an after thought to the guys in the division.

Well he's the mandatory challenger for Brook's belt so I don't know how he can get a belt if the title holder doesn't wanna fight him. The IBF shouldn't sanction a unification fight until champions fight their mandatories especially if they kept them waiting this long, Brook fought a string of no hopers for 2 years claimning they were his mandatories, now Spence becomes the mandatory then Brook takes off his gloves and puts on a suit, that's not right. He should either fight Spence next or vacate, no more stalling.

I don't get people being dismissive of Spence though, he earned his spot and is a real threat to Brook unlike previous mandatory defences. It's too early to accuse Brook of ducking Spence because a unification fight will always trump a mandatory.

You hold a title in a weight class so you don't get to pick and choose who you make weight for. Doesn't work like that unless you vacate.

Unless Brook can get a unification fight he has to face Spence or drop the belt. I don't think Brook is avoiding Spence but people being dismissive of the fight are as biased as the OP.
