Is Canelo doing to GGG what GGG is trying to do to Jacobs?

Real question cause I don't know. But from what it seems like is GGG thinks he's worth more than what he's being offered by Canelo even though he doesn't have a big name on his resume. And now gggs people is trying to do to Jacobs the same thing they feel is bein done to them by Oscar. Are they low balling Jacobs?

I have no idea. Golovkin's promoter seems to be groping in the dark. The guy is clueless. He should be spending time with Don King or Arum for his schooling.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Are you implying there's a causal relationship between the two? Like K2 are pissed with Oscar so they're taking it out on Jacobs? In that case, no.

All that's happening are two sets of unconnected negotiations in which both sides are trying to maximise their guys income. That's assuming that in each case both sides are negotiating in good faith, of course, which is a different question.

Well, Jacobs/Golovkin is being negotiated as a 'NEXT' fight. Golovkin/Alvarez is being negotiated for a fight that's one year away, with multiple fights scheduled in between.

In July, K2 offered Jacobs $1.5mill, out of at best a $5mill purse. That's a 30% offer right there.

GB just offered Golovkin $10mill, but how big is the percieved purse? Most would agree that it's bigger than $30mill (which would be a 33% cut for GGG).

I don't think the situations are similar much at all. If Canelo was offering to fight GGG next, they'd take the fight already. They got time to negotiate and don't have to accept the first offer. Golovkin can fight various guys, make good money, and sell out arenas by himself. Jacobs just had to fight in Reading, PA in front of 5-6k people with less than 500k watching on free tv. Nobody cares about Jacobs, his options beyond GGG are slim. So in summary, one guy has time and options to negotiate on, the other guy really doesn't. Jacobs simply doesn't want to risk get KO'd again.

Omitting the billions of dollars he thinks he's worth.

Just because it's happening to the same fighter doesn't mean he can't be right in both situations.

Canelo-GGG is universally hailed as the biggest fight in boxing. Nobody accepts a flat fee for a fight like that. There's a reason why Golden Boy along with the Golovkin hate squad are pushing him to accept the offer. Everybody else, from Arum, to Marquez, to Schaefer are saying the flat fee offer is bull****.

As for Jacobs, there are 2 things at play here. One, it's a mandatory-champion situation with an established purse split. Golovkin can insist on 75/25 - it's his right that he worked for. If that's not fair, Jacobs need to demonstrate why. And to put it bluntly, he can't. He's had 2 major fights in his life. In first, he got knocked out. In the 2nd, he caught his opponent and knocked him out in the 1st. Unfortunately for him, even though it was a fight between top10 contenders in their backyard, the fight did not sell. The live gate was awful and TV viewership was horrible.

Jacobs has 1 argument for why he should get paid more - it's that he should get paid more for Golovkin than he did for Quillin. That argument is laughable. One, it's his big chance to shine against a unified world champ. And two, what he got for Quillin had nothing to do with his market value.

And Golovkin doesn't want to lose to Canelo. If Golovkin really believed he could beat Canelo he'd offer Jacobs 40 percent for January, get 2 million for Heiland in April theb fight Canelo in September. That's 15 million for Golovkin in 9 months but he's a coward.
