  • Save it,,,all duran fans simply will refuse to accept even his own words. I have his own autobiography where he says he never had cramps, his exact words said he would not fight this clown. He was frusterated because he was getting his ass handed to him.

Duran fans refuse to accept facts......Even if it comes from his own mouth. Duran was a great figher, but not what thesse cult followers try to make people think.

Lightweight career 70-1 best wins were versus dejeuses (2-1) buchanon, Hiroshi kobayashi, marcel, Many of his fights at lightweight were vs fighters with .500 or less records. Some of these fighters even after he was a champion. What a joke.

Welterweight, beat ray by a total of 4 points between 3 judges in a figher where ray willingly forsake his boxing style and went toe to toe... Leonard did not quite. When Duran had to fight Ray's style he quite.... Duran gets ko'd by Hearns at superwelter, loses to benitez at super welter, loses to Hagler.

All by the age of 32. Hmmm same age Leonard was when he fought Hagler, Same age mayweather is now, Years younger than Roy Jones was by the time he lost his first legitimate fight at a much higher weight class as was Mayweather at age 32, and Ray who was retired for 5 years...All of these fighters moved up.

No, duran followers refused to accept facts. He is over rated. He simply got kudos because of slaughtering bums at lightweight, and then outpointing ray in their first fight. Many forget his lost to dejesus.....

You keep saying that Duran is overated. Overated by whom? As for him getting kudos for slaughtering bums, the term "Bum of the month club" was coined for Joe Louis' disposition of such fighters at the peak of his career. The legend of the "Brown Bomber" was based in large part on his systematic "slaughtering" of bums.

Mayweather struggled with the aggresive Castillo, Duran is better then Castillo. Duran would ruff up Maywether 4 times rough then Castillo did to Mayweather. And Mayweather would be crying like he did against Castillo. Mayweather can't hang in a tough fight with out having help from the ref. Hatton was kicking his ass but Mayweather was elbowing and had the ref in his back pocket.

It must hurt you a lot to know that Duran is greater then any fighter you may favor.

You truly make no ****en sense. And i know for a fact that you were not around Durans time as a lightweight and beyound for you to speak of him like that.

Mayweather, Jones Jr. two fighters you mentioned. And these two fighters are KNOWN to duck and dodge the top fighters!

See, i think the problem is you would like Mayweather and Jones Jr. to be talked in the same breath as Durans invincability but Mayweather and Jones Jr. never had the balls to always take on the best as Duran did. And lets see how well Mayweather and Jones Jr. fight at over 50 years old as a pro boxer. Mayweather nor Jones Jr. are not made of the old school where you fight a lot. Pay attention to Mayweather all he does is throw 1 max 2 punchs at a times, then he joggs around the ring.

Hate on Duran but he is better then either Mayweather or Jones Jr.

Do you even realize how far past Duran prime was when he fought Pazienza? And he gave a very close fight to Pazienza the first time around. You reallly shouldn't post if you don't know what you're talking about.

LOL, you should see how much Whitiker struggled against some Spaniard fighter at lightweight.

Pazienza wasn't great, no matter how you slice it. Good or very good even, but not great.

Duran definately gets props for beating him when he was ancient though.

Very early in his career, and he avenged that loss twice over.

                      Roberto Duran against Tommy Herns.
My uncle keeps saying Duran was so great.
I saw the tape when Duran quit against Sugar
Ray too. Now seeing Tommy Herns knock him out
with one punch. Why do people keep saying Duran
is so great especially old people.
i cant think of any lightweight who could beat a prime duran, even aaron pryor would have a hard time!
