The winner of Ward/Kovalev against Canelita will be even bigger! Canelita walks around 180 lbs begging for a belt, any belts, except MW.

Golovkin fine right where he is... 168 or 175 don't have the marquee matchups that 160 does..
Canelo
Eubanks
Saunders
Jacobs
Way more lucrative than degale, Ward, kovolevComment

You and many others want GGG to leave the MW division because you are scared of him going one up on Floyd by knocking Canelo TFO without draining him first.Comment

hahahaha. Roach brings up GGG find a way to involve Floyd.
Hey, I thought only "the demographic" asks GGG to move up.Comment

GGG is already considered the best middleweight in the world. Winning Saunders Wbo strap will not affect that. He should go up and fight Degale until heading back down to fight Canelo for his money fight. Peace.Comment

Roach isn't asking for GGG to move up, he say's "he may need to, to get recognition" That's not the same thing.
He also says that GGG is the best P4P boxer in the world, but let's ignore that part.
Roach is living in the past. He knows that no boxer ever moved up to face the best in a higher division, in order to gain "recognition" They did it for money!
In Roach's head, recognition and money are linked in the sport of boxing. One follows the other like night follows day. Not any more.
SRL was paid $14million to move up to MW and face Hagler, and that was back in the 80's! GGG would make less money for fighting the winner of Ward/Kovalev than he would get for Canelo, or for BJS or Eubank Jnr in the UK.
And let's say, for arguments sake, that GGG challenged the winner of Kovalev/Ward and beat him. He would get monster respect and recognition from hard-core boxing fans and boxing pundits, but it wouldn't make him the kind of cross-over star that SRL was in the 80's, and it wouldn't translate into huge purses for subsequent fights.
That's because the kind of fans that GGG, or any fighter, need to win over to become another SRL, or another Floyd, or another Manny, don't know who the **** Ward and Kovalev are!
Sad, but true.Last edited by kafkod; 10-28-2016, 08:07 AM.Comment
