A million dollars shouldn't stop a fight from happening. Also 3 million then is like 10 million tops today. And they split that two ways so it still comes out to way less than what Canelo and GGG make.
At the end of the day, Oscar is the one holding up the fight, not GG, on the basis of not accepting a flat fee 12 months out.

      Your examples are irrelevant here.

Fighters can still be in big fights even though they have a loss or 2 on their resume, depending on the circumstances.

What I'm saying, is that if GG beat BJS and Jacobs and Canelo fought them shortly afterwards, nobody would care at that point. The fights wouldn't be relevant. They wouldn't generate big numbers. Because everyone's focus would be on a GG fight instead. The fans would demand that Canelo fought him.

Take $10 Million and what? Canelo is not even ready to fight, earliest the fight can happen is late next year. GGG is ready to fight right now. Oscar himself said the negotiations now aren't done publicly, so why do you guys even care about that, it's not like GGG said ok and the fight is happening next. Hell, Canelo still fights at 154 and is talking about a Pacquiao fight or a Cotto rematch lol. When both fighters keep winning and Canelo somehow grows some balls and Oscar stops being a little ***** then that fight could generate more than $100M, so GGG would take 10% split. There is a reason you guys are NOT matchmakers or actual accountants.

You have a serious obsession if you are still talking about **** from 2 weeks ago.

yeah, the way he's been ducked left and right, he should be getting desperate due to his age...it's not a big loss if he takes the flat fee....can't really blame him for it, but this way he's gonna be post prime when he finally gets a fight.

Gennady and co. need to play chess with this shìt, not checkers.

He takes the 10 mil (as opposed to what, 12, 15 tops?) and the increase in his purses over the next few years will make up the difference and then some. Especially if Canelo wants a rematch.

If he turns down the offer, Saul has his escape route, and can then blame Golovkin for the fight falling through. Canelo keeps earning top dollar from the Mexican fan base (Cotto rematch, Lemieux, whoever), and Golovkin will continue to make the same money he's been making, which will be far less than the 10 mil plus what he can demand for future fights due to his increased value from knocking out the ginger on a big PPV.

There's a time and a place to hold out for more money, but in this situation the smart play is to take the flat fee and then enjoy calling the shots for the next few years.

And of course we can't forget that father time is creeping up on Gennady, so it's make or break with this shìt.

Canelo needs to offer a purse split otherwise he would go down in history as a coward.

As a hardcore ggg fan he most deff leaving 2 mill on the table is worth the upside. Especially in a remaych

Hey man, I was just replying out of courtesy.

There is no obsession. I've just been busy these past few weeks, that's all.

The highest purse he has received so far is 5 million against Kell Brook.

If it wasn't for Brook taking that fight and it being in the UK, he would not get that amount.

Imagine if Golovkin never had that fight and went after Canelo. The highest he could have got was 8 million tops.
