    Canelo can't be an ATG

Canelo is one of my favorite fighters but he can't capture weight after weight like recently Pacquaio or Mayweather did, I can't see him going more than 160 at 5'7 (he was shorter than both Mayweather and Khan who were both 5'8) and 70' reach he can't go far

Why do you need to jump as many weights as Manny or Floyd to be an ATG?

Canelo is 5'8 1/2, he looked an inch shorter against Smith who was 5'9 1/2 and he and floyd were the same height.

You don't need to go up in weight to be an ATG.

Not saying that Canelo will become one, just saying.

Depending on how long Alvarez stays interested in fighting, I see him topping out at 168lbs (think Arthur Abraham).

Whether he becomes an ATG or not, Alvarez has the potential to be a three-division world champion, with the starpower to basically command any fight he wants.

Alvarez is 48-1-1 and all of 26 years old. I doubt that Alvarez fights until he's Floyd's age (unless he doesn't crossover into pop culture), but you're likely talking about 20 more fights, most of which are likely to come at middleweight. As long as he wins, he's got a chance to build a conversation.

There are plenty of great fighters who didn't have success in 3 or more divisions. Canelo's greatness or lack thereof won't hinder on him winning titles in more divisions than he already has.

If he moved up and beat Golovkin before Golovkin becomes shot, that would go a long way in making him an ATG. The competition is definitely there for Alvarez to become an ATG just at 154 and 160.

The bigger obstacle preventing it is that he likely isn't good enough.

Canelo at this point of his career is not even viewed as a great fighter nor has the potential to be an ATG

This business about boxers having to be a champion in many weights classes to be an all time great is nonsense. It's some newer boxing fans who are saying this and they don't know what they are talking about. Pacquiao and Mayweather both started very young and at a very light weight. They moved to heavier weights because they outgrew the weight classes they were in not because they were great little men beating bigger men. Some men stop growing at a much younger age and have no logical reason to move up in weight. With 4 champions in each weight class there is often a weak champion to fight to move up in weight and some weight classes are only a few pounds apart. Greatness is being a great fighter at your natural best fighting weight and dominating that weight class. That is greater than being an average or less than average champ in a few different classes. Hearns was a great fighter won fought at 147, 154, 160, 168 and 175. Was Hearns a greater fighter than Hagler who destroyed a prime Hearns in 3 rounds? Broner has been a champion at 130, 135,140, and 147 and Canelo is twice as good as Broner. Canelo can be an all time great if he continues to dominate at 154 and 160 and there is no need for him to fight any heavier. GGG likewise can stay at 160 and be an all time great. Boxing history is full of all time greats who only fought in one weight class.
