Canelo didn't make any fans in England by beating Khan and Smith. He is known over here as the guy who beat up two smaller UK fighters but chickened out of defending his MW title against GGG. Seriously, Canelo's name is mud with UK sports fans.

GGG was voted the best P4P boxer in the world in a recent Sky Sports poll in the UK, and that was before he came over here and beat Kell Brook.

What we do know is that GGG isn't going to make 10 mil anywhere else.

Fight could end up surpassing expectations but that is a reasonable trade off. GBP are expected to risk their rising star on an event that could fail to break 1 million. They understandably expect a high reward to make the gamble worthwhile.

GGG should focus on the fact that 10 mil would be his biggest purse and the position victory would put him in.

It's just standard practice, ppv upside for both guys. Refusing that is just a ducking tactic. Where else is Canelo gonna make the money he'd get vs Ggg?

This is the same scenario, except on a smaller scale monetarily. You don't take a flat fee when it's an opening offer, and you bring a hell of a lot to the table yourself. Additionally, the fight is nearly a year away. Sure, Golovkin will have to take a smaller percentage in the end.

I don't enjoying discussing percentage splits but the sheer BS on this site is really something.

In my view his worth is a lot greater than just the purse. A win over Jacobs provides Golovkin with much-needed credibility with his current detractors whom he needs in his corner for negotiations with Alvarez. Whatever extra he gives Jacobs in the fight he makes back exponentially in his fight against Alvarez. If 2.5- 3 million end up being 40% to 50% of the purse then make the fight for the sake of what it does regarding negotiation power. Loffler has to stop playing checkers and start playing chess thinking two to three steps ahead.
