Because only one side told the fans the fight was gonna be on Dec 10th. Jacobs is being blamed for Tom telling everybody the fight would be on Dec 10th when though he wasn't even close to having the fight signed. If you don't have a fight signed & you're in negotiations with a fighter with ties to a different network maybe you shouldn't tell people a fight date until you have a contract signed.

No it was not. That date was booked for Canelo. A week & a half after GGG & Jacobs fought & after the WBA mandated the fight. When GBP announced Canelo was out until next year that's when Loeffler came out and said they're having the fight on that date. How can you announce a fight date without a contract? I don't understand how Jacobs is getting the blame for Loeffler jumping the gun.

Well, yes, it was originally booked for Canelo, but when Canelo got injured Loeffler immediately booked it for Golovkin. Yes Jacobs was the fight they were aiming for , but at no stage did Loeffler ever say 'we are fighting Jacobs at MSG on 12/10' merely that that's what they were aiming for. Had something happened - say Jacobs had got injured in training they would have fought someone else on that date at that venue. It was the date Loeffler booked, not the specific opponent. All of which is largely irrelevant - it's hardly a crime to announce where you're planning to fight next is it - Danny said he'd be back at Barclays in December? So it didn't work out. So what?

It strikes me that your problem is more that some fans are trying to attach some blame to Jacobs for the fight not happening on a particular date - yes, the date was planned but as you say no deal was reached so they're just wrong. Still not seeing how that's Loefflers fault.

Have you seen the Sanchez interview? He just basically says 'cool, some guys just work differently and need longer to prepare'. Regardless of what he might previously have said he ain't laying any blame on Danny right now - though of course that may change, it is Sanchez after all.

My theory is that HBO were already planning to cancel this bout given the negativity it was receiving for the delayed negotiations. In fact I think HBO just cancelled it and weren't interested in Golovkin's 2nd option.

Still, whilst it seems that would have been Loeffler's prefered date and it sounds like they would have rather Golovkin fight again this year, they're not making a big deal over it, unlike some posters on here. This is just the way things go sometimes.

Yeah, I read it and he said "the date wasn't realistic" and cites contract negotiations at the main reason. I agree with you, he's not throwing blame anywhere and that's just how things go sometimes.
