Why is Broner hanging out with Floyd instead of getting the help he needs?

Idk I think for a guy like Broner who clearly has tried to model himself after Floyd to some degree or another hanging with Floyd is damn near a Make A Wish dream scenario for him right now. Plus something tells me that Broner talking to some old white guy with a notepad in a small room isn't going to benefit him all that much anyway.
Regardless doe you can't force people to get help in these situations, for better or worse. Playing amateur shrink I think Broner would do himself a world of good just focusing on boxing for the next 5-8 years that he has left before he physically starts to decline & drop all the partying & bs that seems to have largely led to his demise as a P4P discussed fighter.Comment

Good points but I think they have a toxic relationship. They're cool now but who knows what will happen in a couple months.Say what you want about Floyd, but Floyd seems to be helping him in the only way he seems able to help folks he interacts with; take him to Vegas (removing the distractions that could come with staying in Cincinnatti, positive or negative), do everything to keep Broner in at Mayweather Boxing Club (holding off on the world tour to simply get back in the nitty gritty and coach sparring), and simply hang with him (with Floyd basically being a teetotaler, regardless of what they do or how much money they spend, Floyd's not going to touch any drugs/alcohol and you hitting the bottle is going to make you look silly).
Whether he needs professional help or not is not for me to determine; Broner has a big fight with Ricky Burns coming and setting up this camp (at least this first part) in Vegas gives him as good a chance as any to be fully ready for the fight, and hopefully get to everything else after.
Just look at the reaction to Fury saying he has mental health issues and the reaction to Broner threatening to kill himself. I don't care what anybody says, he was serious this time. The other times he's done something crazy he said he was joking. This time he used the excuse everybody uses when they're caught 'my account was hacked'. I just wanna see him get the professional help her needs. In our community they address mental illness with prayer. Tell your family and friends you're depressed and they're gonna tell you to pray about it. That doesn't work. There are too many of us dead or in jail because we prayed instead of getting the professional help we needed.Last edited by Motorcity Cobra; 10-16-2016, 06:28 PM.Comment

Broner has a weak temperament. It's obvious he rides on the highs of his stardom with no real sense of adulthood to prioritize his career as a cosumate professional. I guarantee you Floyd doesn't won't to keep him around for very long unless he gets his head straight and Cowboys the **** up. Floyd is as tuff as they come when it comes to being thick skinned and professional. To be in Floyds crew and a constituent he is going to have to be a man and not rely on everyone else to pick him up every 6 months I mean come onComment

I agree 100%. Like the other poster mentioned, Floyd is cut from the same cloth as Jordan. Great players can't comprehend how others aren't as mentally tough and self motivated as they are. That's why they usually make horrible coaches (with the exception of Larry Bird). Floyd isn't in the daycare business and Broner never wants to leave Floyd's sideBroner has a weak temperament. Maybe some good will rub off but for the sake of house kids Broner has to get professional help

Floyd's idea of helping is just temporary panacea for something that is likely to be a deep and serious mental condition. Going to strip clubs, throwing money, partying and drinking are fleeing moments which most times would even put you in deeper trouble. Floyd no doubt is addicted to such life. He's even reported to have been planning to open his own strip club in Vegas.Comment

The relationship is most definitely toxic; as long as it's big bro/little bro, they're good. The moment that changes, they butt heads.Good points but I think they have a toxic relationship. They're cool now but who knows what will happen in a couple months.

It took Fury acknowledging that he had a problem to finally commit himself to getting some help (no doubt the pressure of going from being a brash talking young heavyweight building up to, almost overnight, actually becoming the "Gypsy King" didn't help things). Broner needs to simply get to that point in his own life.
Until then, I doubt that professional help will do him much good. In lieu of that, why not throw himself all the way into boxing, with "big bro" looking over his shoulder?
If Ricky Burns beats him... who knows what will happenComment
