This is the 2nd time SRL has given sound advice to Kell Brook! Brook should've listened the 1st time:

"He also has to be in the best shape ever, capital E, to maintain the tempo and the pace of Golovkin.

"He has to be mobile, in and out, and try to confuse triple-G.

"He has to do what he does best and be himself, but faster, quicker, smarter, more economical."

And Leonard added that there are lessons Brook can learn from his 1987 Vegas clash with Hagler.

"To maintain the weight was quite difficult, I was kind of a natural welterweight," said Leonard.

"My weight would not go beyond 155 so it was very difficult trying to maintain 160."

"I was trying to figure out what weight I should be. As the fight got closer, I weighed in at 158, which didn't take away from my speed and didn't take away from my mobility.

"Brook has to understand what weight is he most comfortable at, what weight won't take away his speed or his movement."

"I kept moving, I could not stand toe-to-toe with Marvin Hagler. The times I did, was just to release my combinations, and then get back out."

"I could not be a stationary target because it wears you down against a bigger guy, a heavier opponent."

No, you don't want that! You don't want Canelo to be exposed before he fights GGG! If that happens, what would be the career defining win for GGG? What you should hope for is that Canelo remains the BS Ring and lineal MW champion, for Zurdo Ramirez to remain the champion, for DeGale to remain the champion! These are the fights that can make GGG an ATG and 1st ballot HOF fighter!

I hope that he didn't lose any confidence. He has some huge fights at Super welter weight and demonstrated a lot of courage by jumping 2 divisions and taking on a killer. Canelo vs Brook would be terrific.

I don't see beating Canelo as a career defining win for GGG. Apart from the money, Canelo has nothing for Golovkin.

Canelo might be a much better fighter at 160 than he is at 154/155, due to not draining himself to make weight, but we've no way of knowing how much better. So if GGG steam rollered and KO'd him, at 160, he likely wouldn't get the credit he deserved for doing it. As with Kell Brook, people would bring up the fact that Canelo is not a career MW and use it to discredit GGG's achievement.

Thinking about it, it might actually do more for GGG's resume and P4P claim if Brook beat Canelo, rather than GGG doing it himself!
