Beterbiev is fighting at a casino in Ottawa on Dec.23. GYM likes to put their fighters on shows in Montreal or Quebec City, mostly. Two great markets, Montreal has no MLB,NBA,NFL, just NHL and MLS and Quebec City has only Junior A hockey so the shows do not have much competition for other live sporting event dollars.

I understand that, but I have no doubt that Michel and DiBella could find a way to make the Canadian TV rights to the fight worth something, to either Canada Indigo, TVA Sports or whatever other broadcaster that Michel works with in Canada.

Don't take any money out of your own pocket (Beterbiev being busy with his own show), but are you saying that Yvon Michel couldn't take Golovkin-Jacobs/Rivas-TBA/Bizier-TBA and sell the show to a broadcaster in Canada for a good price?

Both sides will look bad if they can't get this deal done.

From Golovkin's side, how can they think that they can get a deal done with a 75-25 split when they gave Dominic Wade an 80-20 split? If they aren't willing to offer at least 70-30 then you have to wonder why they were not willing to concede slightly against a genuine middleweight threat when they have done so against much lesser opposition.

From Jacobs' side, he has already tried to get an interim fight, tried to change mandated purse percentages, all because he believes he is worth $X, which no one else believes he is worth. Is he forgetting that he can become the unified champ and ask for whatever pay he likes if he wins? Maybe K2 are low-balling him but if his own promoter doesn't choose to pay him what he is asking for then that would prove that he is delusional about his value.

GGG needs a big fight this year and Jacobs will not get a bigger opportunity at middleweight, if neither side can see how much both fighters need this fight then this fight won't get done.

when it became obvious that Team Golovkin were unwilling to negotiate in good faith, Team Jacobs knew that they were going to a purse-bid - whether Team Golovkin requested an early purse-bid or not, and they DID..... so Team Jacobs requested that the split be adjusted

Don't get me wrong would love to see a 'stacked' show. I just don't think there is much incentive for GYM to send their fighters to fight on the 'road'. Boxing is so low on the radar here in Canada, if you take the Canelo fight as a yardstick and that sold 250000 PPV allegedly, in Canada we are 1/10 the population of the
US, how many extra viewers up here could make that much of a difference? The logistics to broadcast the event would not add up... GYM does not even send any fighters for tuneups here in Toronto.

Sooo...it's your opinion that the fight will make only 5M. Trip and Lemieux had what almost 4M in purses and Lemieux is a nobody. This is a premium fight that can make 10M-12M, with 8 million in purses. Barclay's and premium priced seating gets it done. Heck the networks will foot the bill for most of the purses.
