What is K2 willing to put up to host the fight, a fight that they've never really been all that interested in hosting in the first place?

Are the willing to risk $4m? $3m to Golovkin (minus maybe $300k-$400k if the King clause exists), $1m to Jacobs, and risk making their money back, likely without PPV? I'm not sure.

Are DiBella/Haymon willing to risk $4m? They've already risked basically that amount on the Jacobs-Quillin fight card, and Golovkin-Jacobs is a bigger fight than even that was.

If securing Daniel Jacobs the biggest fight that he could arguably ask for is going to cost Haymon giving up 75% of a bid (regardless of what the bid actually ends up being, winning the bid gives DiBella/Haymon the rights to the full upsides on the event), I think that Haymon is ready to take that short-term L.

Is K2 willing to take the risk, of putting Golovkin in his toughest fight as a professional, fighting out of the opponent's home venue, on a channel that is in clear competition with K2's preferred broadcaster? who knows
There's a coupla significant differences there, though, ain't there? Firstly Haymon got his cut of 100% of the fighter purses instead of just 25%, secondly whoever won out of Quillin and Jacobs PBC had a winner on it's hands. The money wasn't risked so much as invested in building one or the other of the fighters and the PBC brand. If Jacobs loses to GGG - as he's expected to by most - it's hard to see the upside for PBC and Haymon.

We'll see though. TBH I just wanna see this **** made, a lot of the BS that's being discussed here is just jockeying for position so that we can all start playing the blame game if it falls through.

I think a bid in the neighborhood of $4.5 million to $5.5 million is probably "safe", in that the promoter likely would at least break even on the event. Thats assuming its an HBO date. If it went to PPV they might could squeeze another million out of it, but anything north of that its High Risk City......

Wrong. What has Jacobs done to deserve a special exemption to the rules? Why should the WBA change their rules for Jacobs?

Can you imagine if they changed their rules for any fighter who asks for a reorganization of the purse? Why bother having rules in the first place then?

how can you really know exact numbers in negotiations, just according to purse bids?

do you know that Haymon pays his fighters more money outside purses...just to compensate in the case the purse was low...and what I heard is that this would be the same case with Jacobs...K2 wins the bid and haymon pays his fighter more money to compensate.

I just hope this fight get done already...would be a shame if not...but I wont blame the fighters, I would blame the promoters.
Bidding $4 Mil means Jacobs gets $1 mil. I hope they would've offered him more in negotiations. Going by their previous fights in NY I think this fight will sell out easily. And at a higher ticket price than Lemiuex/GGG and Jacobs/Quillin. Lemiuex had no name recognition in NY. GGG's name carried that fight. Jacobs did 9,000 at Barclays so he has name recognition in NY unlike Lemiuex. I think it's worth almost double the Lemiuex fight ($6 mil at the most). I'm also optimistic about the fight being made. • Seems much less likely this fight takes place and in the end boxing fans will lose, again. You should be used to it by now.

You can look at their live gates, their TV viewership numbers, their internet popularity... anything at all. If Danny wasn't with Haymon he would be fighting for 500k as an undercard fighter.

Here's interest over time per Google.

Showtime was willing to put more money behind Jacobs-Quillin than HBO was willing to put behind Golovkin-Lemieux, K2 has yet to disclose the gate for Golovkin-Lemieux, and neither has Jacobs-Quillin (so talk about live gates is a touch reckless), and I've never seen internet popularity translate into money actually going into the pot (as clearly demonstrated by Golovkin-Lemieux barely doing 100k PPV buys).

In the world of prizefighting, money talks and it's not entirely clear that Golovkin has more money heading into his fights than Jacobs has heading into his fights.

Haymon has definitely helped things a ton, but don't play Daniel Jacobs; the man is 32-1, is all of 29 years old, was on the hot track in the run-up to the Dmitry Pirog fight, was set back by cancer, and has gone 10-0 since coming back (with a couple decent wins mixed in, and a belt).

You add that he's an American middleweight, in an era where the division is starving for talent, and you're a fool if you don't think a broadcaster would've picked up the effort to try and make something.
