I doubt BJS/GGG period. I think BJS is only using GGG's name to leverage up his price for Canelo in May.

Not that I want to see Jacobs vs Blanco but if they are trying to reduce the number of WBA champions from 3 to 1 then why didn't they first get Jacobs to fight Blanco and then have the winner face Golovkin? Also as much as I'd like GGG to be able to unify vs Saunders, if he somehow didn't have to fight his WBA mandatory this year that means he would have only made 1 mandatory defense of his belts since May of last year.

When you have 3 belts, you really need to defend every 6 months to satisfy all the organisations. Look at WBC #1 Jorge Heiland, he has been in that position since 2013 and I doubt that he will get a chance any time soon unless the Saunders or Canelo fights don't get made next year.

as usual, the over-hyped guy who has no real options is making silly diva demands and will end up fighting yet another no-hoper

or maybe GGG/Khurtz. It would be entertaining for however long it lasts, which probably won't be long. GGG could literally beat some of these guys on the same night. These kinds of match-ups are simply not main-event caliber.

Heiland is like many other MWs: inactivity and **** match-ups.

Out of the BoxRec's MW top 15, only 2 guys have matches lined up--Lemieux and BJS--but the match-ups are throwaway. Monroe has the most relevant win of 2016's last quarter (Sept-December) vs. Rosado, which speaks volumes about the current state of MW.

I don't think Heiland deserves a shot either, you are exactly right about his inactivity and general state of the middleweight division. My point was that if the Jacobs fight doesn't get done, I'm not sure that the WBA and WBC can have him avoid his mandatories once again since he hasn't defended the WBA title since May 2015 and I don't think he has had to defend his WBC title yet either.

I think that if the fight were to somehow fall through, the WBA would call for Golovkin-Blanco or whoever the next available guy is in the rankings.
