October 22nd is ten days from the original purse bid. They didn't really grant an extension. They kept the original purse bid date.

If they can reach an agreement by Oct. 12, we just ask for contracts,” Mendoza said. “If they can’t, I’ll call for a purse bid within 10 days [Oct. 22] and we’ll then release what we decided.
    From the WBA website yesterday

Negotiations between the two parties end in six days, on October 12. However, Tom Loeffler, managing director of K2 Promotions who is representing Golovkin, told the WBA that it is unlikely that the parties will reach an agreement before the deadline and recommended that the fight go to a purse bid.

Jacobs is lucky to get 25%. If the WBA modifies the purse bid percentages it just shows they answer to Haymon, which is what delaying the purse bid against Loeffler's wishes seems to show in the first place. Loeffler should petition them to change the split from 75%-25% to 90%-10% in GGG's favor just to put pressure on them to keep it where it is.

The cold reality of this fight is that GGG is gonna sell the tickets, and lure viewers.

I don't know that Jacobs can sell out an arena in his own hometown.

If you ask me, I think GGG should get 5 million, and Jacobs should get the live gate.

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA the WBA completely exposed Danny Jacobs and Al Haymon. Oops!

In the midst of the negotiations, Mendoza, acting as a mediator, offered both sides the chance to have an interim fight and put off Golovkin-Jacobs until the spring. However, Golovkin’s side vehemently declined, Mendoza said. “I was just trying to accommodate everyone’s interests,” Mendoza said. “But at the end of the day, that was not a final decision. It was just an idea. That’s not going to happen right now. That’s off the table.”

Danny Jacobs wanted ANOTHER interim fight. It was GGG's side that as usual stood up for the fans and vehemently denied. What do you got to say now all you GGG hater idiots? What now??? You just got exposed right along with Jacobs.

The fear is that either side could vacate their WBA title if a deal can’t be reached or if the fight is untenable for whatever reason. Mendoza said the topic of vacating a title hasn’t come up for either fighter. “We’re not talking about that,” he said. “Honestly, we’ll have to wait but GGG wants to be the middleweight champion and I don’t think he’d want to vacate any of his titles and I think that’s the same for Jacobs. This will establish the top middleweight.”

Mendoza said he offered both sides an interim fight. It doesn't say Jacobs requested an interim fight. Did you read what you posted?
