If there's a size difference, I'd go one way or the other. There is none. Both stand at 6" in height. Most likely a 12 round decision that would favor Ward and KO is only Kovalev's chance of winning. We've seen judges' bias before in many similar situations.

Very true. That has almost always been the case throughout boxing history, going all the way back to when "slick" Jim Corbett beat John L. Sullivan.

On the other hand when a puncher can beat a superior boxer it almost automatically stamps him as an all-time great.

This is a very important fight that will be career-defining. May the best man win and get his rightful respect afterwards.

Although I agree with Scully (and my confidence in picking Ward is increasing for some unknown reason), I wonder how much his thoughts are affected by the fact that Ward has already beat someone in his camp.

I'm surprised how people get on here and try to discredit their preferred boxer's opponent. Both Ward and Kov's resumes are legit and whoever wins this fight should be considered the P4P king (assuming that the match won't be a virtual draw). Fandom shouldn't be getting in the way of facts, especially for this fight.

Those who think Kovalev only has a puncher's chance are in for a big surprise.

His best wins are is Froch & Dawson. Considering that Pascal beat Dawson & is probaby Frochs second best win i don't see that crapping all over it do you? Only guy i see beating Hopkins is Dawson too.. Certainly not the 168lb Taylor! 175lb Hopkins would have beaten Taylor IMO I do not see the small Abraham beating the likes of Cleverly neither! 75% of Carls opposition would struggle to beat Chilemba too. Better overall depth yes but craps on it? No.

                Best wins:

                Ward: Kessler, Froch, Dawson, Abraham.

                Kovalev: Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly, Chilemba.

Hopkins greater H2H fighter than Dawson too. Plus Dawson was unproven at 168 & AA has struggled with every top tier SMW. I think Cleverly & Chilemba would outbox him.
they actually fought and Dawson won. no need to fixate on h2h, how about reality?

This is a good fight and i generally think it is 50/50. Kovalev is too slow to catch ward in the beginning but ward hasnt fought very long at light heavy. So i think Kovalev will be the bigger guy on the night.
I think Ward wins a close decision but gets caught late in the fight. It depends on what happens then on who wins.
Ward is going to get caught later if kovalev stalks him the entire fight.
Kovalev is fast on his feet to be fair but hand speed is going to be a problem with Ward

Yes, I like Andre but I have a problem with it if he's beating Kovalev clearly as EVERYBODY in the boxing game is telling us (except Roach maybe)..

He has been fighting 3 C level unknown fighters in 3 years

While Kova has been collecting 3 belts beating 3 champions and top ranked contenders.

Kova earned it the hard way and it would be quite unfair to him to unify the division then losing it looking average.

                    Hard wor should be rewarded.

Ward always surprised me (I picked him but never thought he would whie wash Kessler) so why not.

What do you think in Kova's game should worry Ward?
