I didn't say punchers I said people who can throw punches back. Going in with Cleverly ,Pascal ,Hopkins and Chilemba has to get you ready for a big fight better than a fat old Paul Smith,Barrera and another short fat guy in Brand.That's glorified sparring for him.

The only way for Kovalev to win is to risk getting knocked out himself. Not necessarily make it a war because that's not the way he fights, but he can't just sit back and try to box with him for 12 rounds. He's gonna have to be aggressive and I think he'll press the issue as needed.

His best wins are is Froch & Dawson. Considering that Pascal beat Dawson & is probaby Frochs second best win i don't see that crapping all over it do you? Only guy i see beating Hopkins is Dawson too.. Certainly not the 168lb Taylor! 175lb Hopkins would have beaten Taylor IMO I do not see the small Abraham beating the likes of Cleverly neither! 75% of Carls opposition would struggle to beat Chilemba too. Better overall depth yes but craps on it? No.

Best wins:

Ward: Kessler, Froch, Dawson, Abraham.

Kovalev: Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly, Chilemba.

Hopkins greater H2H fighter than Dawson too. Plus Dawson was unproven at 168 & AA has struggled with every top tier SMW. I think Cleverly & Chilemba would outbox him.

Did I not say he hasn't fought anyone who punches back " for years " as in the level of his opposition hasn't been good recently to prepare him for the rigors of a real fight? Read what I'm saying in context.

Yeah and I'm not giving him Dawson.That was Dawson's anorexic brother.Froch was soundly bested by Dirrell in my opinion.So his best win is Kessler.Who I think is a good fighters,but not great.Calzaghe beat him clearly.And his best win was over Marcus Beyer.So your right,he's resume dosent crap all over Kovalevs.But his resume lately doesn't look to me like it prepares him well at all.Didn't look like a star against a fat Paul Smith.Who was crushed in two rounds by Groves.

That's a respectable, and very popular opinion. I still think it's a 50/50 fight. Kovalev is not just a brawler. He was able to outbox Hopkins and Chilemba. Both of those guys are tricky. Yeah, he struggled, but he still pulled it out.

And I don't think Andre Ward has Chilemba's chin. Isaac walked through some heavy shots in that fight .
