If GGG's team loses the purse bid he'd likely drop his belt and go searching for an easier fight, which is his M.O.Comment

cmon Dunn, you know better than that. Saunders brings uk PPV money, and you know that.GGG isn't "box office". I didn't say he wasn't popular. you are not summarizing my points. you are deflecting from answering the questions I asked you.
I never posted he should get $5 mil why are you moving the goalpost?
If there was $3 mil available for Saunders there should be same available for Jacobs. Saunders doesn't bring more. Is he as well known as Brook?
Again, if K2 can offer Saunders $3 mil, they should be able to do same with Jacobs.
why should jacobs take less than somone not on his level?
Not to mention Saunders has the last 160 belt GGG needs for the unification.Comment

Dude, nobody in the world takes WBA interim or 'regular' champions seriously. We all want Jacobs/Golovkin, but nobody on this forum treats it as any sort of 'true WBA champion' matchup.
When Golovkin was the challenger to Sturm's super WBA, he didn't make a fuss about 'pay me more'. When he was the challenger to Canelo's/Cotto's WBC, he didn't talk about 'pay me more'. He followed the rules that are clearly laid out.
Danny Jacobs is getting paid well for a shot at 3 world titles. What the hell is there to complain about? Golovkin's risking everything for no reward, AND he needs to overpay opponents? For what? So 20 trolls on NSB can say "well we knew Jacobs' chin was glass anyway so add another one to the tomato can collection"?
bingo. yup, Pirog had already ghouled him. lol you know it.....
and those 20 trolls are actually 4 butthurt losers and all their alts......Comment

He doesnt bring anywhere near as much in ppv as brook, not because of whom he is, but because of the platform he boxes on.
Boxnation have absolutely no chance in making up PPV numbers to the same as Matchroom and their Sky Sports deal, even if BJS is a more worthy oponent than Kell Brook.Comment

I doubt GGG/K2 would care one way or the other. It would come down to what language is in their HBO contract, and if they were in fact contractually prohibited would Peter Nelson give them a pass anyways.
My personal opinion is that he would because from a common sense perspective its win-win for HBO in the long run.
If GGG blasts Jacobs, it was on Haymons dime and GGG likely picks up some new fans that didnt have HBO previouslyComment

I can definitely see why it's attractive for K2 to go to purse bids, I guess I felt that this is a fight that Golovkin really needs after gaining nothing out of fighting Dominic Wade and then a welterweight in Kell Brook who actually put up a much better fight than Wade. If he wants to force that Canelo fight I think he can make a small concession like making the fight with a 70-30 split. Unless Jacobs was unwilling to make such a deal, this could be a missed opportunity if Jacobs moves on, perhaps to another division because I don't see any other top contender giving him a fight. Before the negotiations started, I predicted that K2 would hold out for the purse bid. Why wouldn't they? They get 75% of the split. Even if Haymon wins and brings it to Showtime, he'll have to break the bank to compensate for Jacobs' 25%. Jacobs was on record asking for $2-3M, Haymon would have to put up a massive bid to satisfy that unless Jacobs is willing to fight for like $1M, which I doubt considering he got that much for Sergio Mora and this is a much bigger fight. K2 would offer Jacobs even less money if they won the bid.
It's a win-win for Golovkin both ways. If Haymon wins, he'll have to break the bank and Golovkin would get paid a lot of money even if it's on Showtime. If Haymon doesn't win then Jacobs will likely vacate the belt and K2 wouldn't have to worry about facing another WBA mandatory for another 18 months. Sure, they would lose out on a big fight with Jacobs, but they could bring Golovkin back in December against a lower tiered opponent and get him some of that Canelo money that's left over. They could always fall back to the old "Well we tried to make the Jacobs fight, but he vacated the belt".
Now the interesting thing about this is that the WBA is meeting to discuss the purse split. If they change it from 75-25 to let's say 60-40, that would really be a game changer and will likely put K2 in panic mode IMO.Comment
