He had a chance to do that, instead has looked for Khan and Smith.

But I'm sure Canelo's team will try to push it past September saying he didn't have enough time to get ready.
I agree, he could of had 2 fights under his belt, had he not fought Khan or Smith. And I hate that because there's the built in excuse, plus the fracture... that can push the fight to May 2018. Well, I'm a boxing fan, so I shouldn't expect anything but this.

The question nobody seems to be asking is this: Will Canelo's power follow him up to 160? If it does he will beat Lemieux. If it doesn't he's going to have real problems

Saunders, unlike Lemieux or Smith, is elusive and doesn't come at you.

Plus, still unlike them, he stands at 5"11, has a true MW reach and with the right game plan, he could trouble Canelo.

Saunders just lacks experience IMO, so despite having the Tools to beat Nelo, I'm not sure about him doing it and being serious about it.
But Saunders has that belt! That belt would come in nicely when negotiating with GGG!

'Murican TV loves David... GBP loves David ... Alvarez will need a warm up after a long break... Not a walk in the park fight and Canelo could be hurt... All good !

Now the big question: What about GGG ?

I think Lemeiux puts Canelo to Sleep.
Remember Canelo has no jab and he cant win the fight on the outside. Both will trade punches in and out and Canelo being a better counter puncher will have more landed punches but its one of Lemeiux's thats gets him down.
And Lemule has speedy combinations as well. More over he is one the biggest MW out there.

I've always thought Golden Boy would put Canelo in with Lemieux before letting him fight GGG. I thought it would have already happened though. He should have fought him already instead of taking the Khan or Liam fight.

Against Canelo Cotto came in lighter then he has in years as a strategy to have more stamina to get on his bike 12 rounds and refrain from engaging with Canelo. His gameplan was go backwards and jab his way to a decision. Last thing he wanted was a brawl with Canelo and lost that tactical battle. If Cotto fought the same way he did against Pacman he would of been KO inside 6 rounds.

He didn't go into the Pacman fight trying to win a decision he went in trying to get Pacman out of there and because of it took more risks that left him open and vulnerable. Different gameplans but he lost both fights at the end of the day. Cotto obviously disagrees with you and thinks Canelo has power because he fought more scared of his power then he did Manny. He also respected and feared Canelo's power more then he did either of his previous 2 fights at Middleweight (Sergio/Geale) that's why he stalked those guys down but ran backwards afraid to trade with Canelo.
You boxing acumen is weak. Cotto ran for 12 rounds? Lmao. He constantly through combos then stepped out when he was done. Canelo connected on Cotto multiple times flush, and the worst that happened was Cotto was knocked off balance. The Pac fight was due to more than Cotto's aggression. Cotto was punching off balance, he was reaching with many of his power punches. And the knock downs were flash, as Cotto got up and continued boxing. The fight was stopped over an accumulation of damage, Cotto has never been stopped by K.O..Canelo has not knocked out any of the top fighters, and there is nothing to indicate that he could have knocked Cotto out.

It would be best for Lemiuex and Saunders to fight each other first, then Canelo fights the winner. As it stands it looks like the list of Canelo's next opponents are Saunders, Lemiuex, possibly Brook, and a Cotto rematch (not necessarily in that order) before GGG. So if Saunders and Lemiuex fight, that potentially removes 1 fighter fom the list. I still think Canelo vs GGG doesn't happen 'till 2018.

That'll be good while it lasts, but Lemieux gets countered all day.
