1. He's not a huge MW who struggles to make weight.
2. He has goals he wants to accomplish at the weight.
3. There's good fights for him at MW which can hopefully be made.
4. SMW is not a thriving division.
5. The best fighters at SMW are currently tied up.
What's the problem?
Let us hope that he can fight Jacobs, BJS and Canelo, and then let's hope he can fight DeGale and Ramirez.
Those would be very good fights for him.Comment

Let me simplify the situation:
1. He's not a huge MW who struggles to make weight.
2. He has goals he wants to accomplish at the weight.
3. There's good fights for him at MW which can hopefully be made.
4. SMW is not a thriving division.

Golovkin just picked on a welterweight.
Bob Foster fought Muhammad Ali who outweighed him 42 pounds but Golovkin claims he's great and won't move up 8.
This is an entitled fighter being protected.Comment

How do you like that?
Here comes the predictable race card that you always have to resort to.
That's your default mode when for you're getting owned.
Ha!
You're a joke.
Not that I have to justify myself to you, but I'm a white Englishman, and my favourite fighter of all time is Roy Jones.
Some racist, huh?Comment

He fought Roy when Roy was a prospect. But he would not rematch him in 2002 at a 168 CW, when it would have been one of the biggest fights in boxing. He wasn't interested. He then took a year out before fighting Hakkar. Then in 2008, he admitted that he could have fought at LHW 6 years earlier had he have wanted to, but he didn't because he didn't want to give up his advantages.

We all knew what Roy was you moron and it was better than Jacobs who you call a risk. I'm high on Jacobs but you got him above Roy as a way to protect Golovkin.Comment

"Bernard didn't take risks in his prime"
Learn to read.
Roy was highly regarded in 1993, but his biggest win had been against Castro.
Why wouldn't Bernard fight him in 2002?
Do you want to know more about the character of Bernard Hopkins?
Here:
Bernard Hopkins has no interest in staging a rematch with Roy Jones Jr. He sat ringside at New York's Madison Square Garden and watched Jones take a beating at
He then went on to fight him about 18 months later, after he'd lost to Danny Green in a single round.
What does that say to you?Last edited by robertzimmerman; 10-04-2016, 07:54 PM.Comment

Golovkin picks on Rosado and Monroe for a reason, he'd never fight a fighter with hype.Comment

I think this is true. I also think Golovkin thinks it's true. This is precisely why he wants to beat everyone in the MW division first. He's repeatedly said that this is his goal. Once that happens then a discussion about him moving up is warranted. If he does move up and has a continued unblemished record the boxing historians will undoubtedly be kind and call him one of the greatest fighters of all time. He's got some work to do before that.Comment
