Tough to say. People sleep on Carl's footwork and timing, which are better than Kovalev's. Sergey clearly has a handspeed advantage and raw power on every shot that's considerable. We've seen Carl's threshold but Kovalev's competition is less revealing. We have a guy who fought flawlessly against an aged Hopkins, but also looked clumsy and frustrated vs Chilemba.
I'd lean toward Kovalev but it's not the one sided fight people might like to think. Prime Carl Froch was in a division that was deep as hell. That always makes you look less spectacular than beating on faded fighters.

Kovalev would literally obliterate iron chinned Froch. Pascal had an awesome chin before Kovalev too. Not once was he ever knocked down let alone KO'd.

@ Scottie saying Ward is a level above.. jesus christ man, get your **** together.

Ward vs Kovalev is as 50/50 as you can get period. I favor Kovalev however because what I have seen from Andre Ward he has not impressed me at Light Heavyweight. Darnell Boone says the same thing and he's fought both of them. Ward is simply not as well accustomed at Light Heavyweight as he could be period.

Then again, Froch went to war with Pascal.. Kovalev literally KO'd him twice.. and that says something, no one has ever done that to Jean.

Kovalev hits harder, with superb accuracy, great at distancing, and a jab that knocks people down ffs

That was a prime Pascal. Fight would have to happen at 168 too.

Big froch fan but Kovalev would have put him in a coma.... Kovalev has better skills AND hits harder. Froch would have gotten hurt.

Kovalev fans need to come to terms with the fact that Pascal was a joke when Kovalev fought him. All Kovalev fans, watch the Gonzalez fight. Jean clearly lost but was given a robbery decision. Looked like absolute shyte. Struggled to beat Bute (lol). Pascal has 1 legit victory in his last 5 fights. There needs to be a 3 day been enforced every time someone uses the Pascal fights as any proof of Kovalev's greatness. Clearly not the same guy Froch fought.

I think Kovalev is clearly a level above Froch and Ward is a level above Krusher. Andre takes a punch as Froch does all these guys have durability, Kovalev is the biggest hitter and he's a superior skilled boxer to Froch only Ward is clearly a better boxer than them all.

Froch is a great win especially in the manner in which he won, Kovalev has equally as good wins possibly though I feel the BHOP and Pascal wins were over faded forces where the fight may have been different in the Hopkins fight if he wasn't ten years removed from his prime, Froch could be argued he was in his prime but then I'm not really sure what his prime was, I feel it was when Ward fought him.
I'm sorry, come again... did you just say that Ward takes a punch just as well as Froch did?

                  Yeah, you did.

Go and see a doctor because you're one sinister weirdo my friend. Reading your posts over the years has been gruesome.

Drop the clever act, you're trying too hard. Ward has never shown himself to have a lesser chin than Froch. I've seen Ward hurt once. Carl has been KD'd more than Andre, including one by Groves. He's also been in trouble more. In fairness to Carl, I'll say that's because he has no where near the same defense and that their chins are about equal.

Kovalev would be too much for Froch, however, that has nothing to do with the Kovalev vs. Ward matchup.
