A lot of people seem to like to run down Froch but his record should stand the test of time well as the only win really missing from it would be Ward although Ward turned out to be too good. Saying that tho Kovalevs been built up to be a killer and will look look the better win at the moment but like others have said before if his career tanks after the loss then Froch will be the better win.

Froch was on most people's P4P list after he obliterated Bute. He's also regarded, by far, as Ward's best win.

Yes he has a great run & is a defo ATG SMW. Massive respect to that man , great champion..

However it is unfair to dismiss other fighters who are clearly better simply based on Frochs incredible run. Kessler was a better SMW in his prime for me & he has an inferior resume to Froch! Does it mean he was a lesser fighter or a lesser win? Calzaghe arguably has a lesser resume overall too but i wouldn't consider a win over Froch a better win than one over JC?!

Sorry but Calzaghes win over Kessler>Wards win over Froch too!

Kessler & Pascal are Carls two best SMW wins IMO

          Hopkins & Pascal are Kovalevs.

Kovalev was far more dominant in beating his two! Splitting hairs really..

OVERALL depth goes to Froch. However he has shown more vulnerability, & weaknesses.

Mostly a fair point especially the Calzaghe part, but personally for me Froch was better as Kessler am not putting down Kessler here he was a very good fighter. Froch probably unfortunately for him didnt have the most easy on the eye of styles but that is where the quality of his resume comes in as to beat the list of fighters that he beat isnt a fluke.

Prime for prime id pick Kessler to beat him. Post peak Kessler also did defeat him in a thriller too.. Very evenly matched fighters but at peak power Kessler was the more athletic & slightly more gifted IMO Carl was so ponder-some & flat footed at times..

Kovalev is much better. Froch was easily beaten by Ward and Ward will soon be KOed by Kovalev in my opinion. Froch also lost to Kessler. Froch was knocked down and needed a last round, come from behind KO to pull out a win over washed up Taylor. Froch had a close decision win over Pascal while Kovalev easily KOed Pascal twice. Froch had a very close win over Dirrell who has never been good enough to win any version of a world title. Froch is a good but somewhat overrated boxer in my opinion. Kovalev is a great undefeated boxer and rated top three on almost everyone's pound for pound list. Froch rarely made anybody's pound for pound list. The guys Froch lost to or had close fights with would have been crushed by the Krusher.

Froch is the ****ing man, but Kovalev is bigger, better, and the best fighter in his division. He's definitely a bigger win if Ward beats him than Froch was.

I don't value looking great against limited opposition over looking good against consistently good opposition

Froch is the better fighter, Kovalev is more methodical, Froch he was tougher, and I predict that Froch will have end up giving a tougher fight to Ward than Kovalev will, because he is the better all around fighter. He not only has a better resume, he has better intangibles. Froch is being severely underrated because of "the new guy" syndrome
