Guess we'll find out on Monday if the rumors are true.

Canelo is no star. Large fan base - yes, but no star.

GGG was right declining 90:10 split (AKA double digit offer). Since their PPV numbers are 2:1, they should split purse 65:35. That is the reality about star power.
You DO know GGG only got like $5 million for Brook??? If you even think that came even CLOSE to a 65:35 split your a FKN RTARD!!!!

They even said it wont sell good on PPV because Jacobs is not a PPV fighter, and they wanted it to be a free card. Maybe they couldnt put it together unless it was PPV. Either no fight or have it on PPV. So I am not entirely sure what happens, since K2 will do the promotion for this fight and maybe HBO is on board to put it on free HBO, but I am not sure about HBO' finances and budget.

Lets hope we find out on Monday.

If you look at the numbers being thrown around by this guy (still hard time believing a manager is dumping this info on a sherdog forum), GGG is getting $5mill and Danny is getting $3mill. Kinda doubt HBO would front $5-6mill, with them depending on the gate and international tv to pick up the rest along with the undercard, operational costs, and marketing. PPV would be the only chance.

I still think it could sell well though. I think GGG's picked up a little more traction from a year ago and Jacobs is a more marketable opponent than Lemieux, who had very limited US tv exposure going into their fight. To date, GGG's most watched live fight was Curtis Stevens. I think Danny brings in some similar dynamics, especially if he becomes outspoken during the build-up.

That could be a tough sell. I want that fight and even with Canelo's December money on the table they still may need to make it PPV, but the thing is I think Jacobs would bring in more PPV buys than Lemieux. David had really only been on HBO against Rosado. Danny Jacobs has been all over PBC and has the inspirational story. They would at the very least replicate 100k buys but I'd think it would do much better. Free HBO or PPV I don't care I just want to see this fight . Lets hope it gets made! This Jacobs fight presents intrigue in the early rounds. We just saw Brook reeling off hard combos on GGG in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Golovkin can't allow himself to get hit like that against Jacobs. This is all but guaranteed to end in KO. It will be an excellent fight while it lasts.

Canelo Alvarez will NEVER be a PPV star because fans are basing their definition of stardom on the accomplishments of Floyd Mayweather, and to a lesser extent, Manny Pacquaio. Using those two as a measuring stick, Alvarez will never be a PPV star, nor will any current active boxer. In fact, using those two as a measuring stick, Oscar De La Hoya was not a PPV star because Oscar only broke one million PPV's three times (Felix Trinidad, Bernard Hopkins and Mayweather), and if you take away the Mayweather fight, Oscar's PPV fights only averaged around 600,000.

There is no active fighter on the planet (including Pacquaio) who Alvarez can fight that will help him to generate one million PPV sales. Therefore, Alvarez will never become stars in the eyes of fans on twitter and this message board.

Especially if you consider that angelo, who was coming off a loss and is not a very popular fighter either among casuals did better numbers with Canelo over 2 yrs ago when Canelo was less popular. His numbers are dropping and even you gullible Mexican fans can't save him. As far as tickets sales, you don't have to be a genius to figure it out Pancho. 2 weeks before the fight only 25k seats were sold, then the day before the fight 40k seats were sold.... You really think they had 11 k people buy tickets on the day of the fight?? If you believe this, you're sniffing more coke than Oscar in fishnets.
Golden Boy is becoming a master of spin and playing on words. Golden Boy would absolutely be thrilled with a PPV buy of 300,000. However, what they are not telling us is that the fight likely didn't sell more than 150,000 PPVs. The attendance rate of 51,000 was great. However, the actual number of people who paid to see the fight is likely closer to 30,000.

Just finally getting around to watching this sh.it

You could tell 15 seconds in that Smith stood no chance but he's giving a decent effort, add in a absolutely horrendous undercard and I'm glad that this PPV is the worst of Canelo career, I'm sure they made good $ but I doubt GB is pleased with the results of this

The f.ucked up part is I imagine that Canelos May opponet will be just as bad if not a worse name then Smith.
