    It was sarcasm.

Yes, GG hasn't earnt big money yet. But this will be one of the biggest grossing fights of all time. You know that. It will be huge.

Did Manny make anywhere near the $40m that Floyd offered him? No. But it was still a BS offer.

The principle is the same with this fight.

It doesn't matter if $10m would be by far GG's biggest purse. He's not going to accept that to let Canelo make 5 x as much etc.

    They both need each other.

Canelo cannot make this sort of money against anyone else and it's GG's belts that they'll be fighting for.

A flat fee a year out is a JOKE!

    • Golovkin is the clear B side though, I doN't know what this clown talking about

Golovkin is no Pacquiao and although Canelo is also not Mayweather, he is clearly the bigger draw than GGG

I wouldn't give more than the first offer to these greedy mfers... If 10 million dollars not enough for them then no fight...
Oscar is not their daddy... Be happy with 10 million. It's a ****ing lot.

      • I am a GGG fan and i am ok with this offer. I am also a paquio fan and i was ok with the 40 million offer, but i didn't blame paquio for not taking it... considering he made a lot more after the terms were agreed.

I think a 30/70 to 40/60 is a fair split, would be the biggest purse for both guys.

          They are negotiating FFS.

What do you think Leoffler's going to do?

This will run until next year, and by that time GG could have a lot more leverage than what he currently has.

Whilst it's not a direct comparison, it's the same principle.

How much do you think the fight will gross in total?

Tell me and then take away GG's $10m.

Give me a figure and tell me why you think it would be fair.

Canelo deserves more. But not a ridiculous amount more.

            • lets just put it this way, GGG stock keeps rising, even when he is the clear favorite his name is becoming more main stream, look at the Brook fight, the Daniel Jacobs fight, and very likely the BJS fight for the undisputed that will likely take place prior to Canelo fight. GGG is clearly a very strong/marketable counterpart to the fight with Canelo, in the meantime Canelo's stock/popularity isn't really going anywhere, he had an all time high vs Mayweather and 2nd really nice PPV vs. Cotto, other than that his PPV numbers are dropping regularly even with a big name like Khan he couldn't break 500k, and other than that i think he is in the 300k mark usually when he does do ppv.

I am not a promoter of either but a % split for boxing two biggest stars at the moment (which they clearly are) makes sense to the GGG side.

No troll on here can name a more main stream appealing fight then this or bigger stars (outside of semi-retired Cotto and Paquio).

Not only that, it built hatred toward Canelo so much so that people want to see him lose... Remind you of anyone else? Ggg can take a flat 10 mil if he don't want it then 🖕And next!
If GG had've dropped the belt, he'd have suffered dogs abuse. But when Canelo does it it was great business sense.

Don't kid yourself into thinking that Canelo's in a great position. He's not. He's under enormous pressure and that will only increase if he vacates his belt to move up to MW.

GG is now looking to secure fights with Jacobs and BJS which will be big fights. Meanwhile, Canelo will be on the sidelines recovering from his injury, until Oscar gives him the green light to fight a low ranked MW tune up.

GG is on the rise, gaining more popularity with each fight. Canelo's reputation has taken a huge hit.

If GG obtains all of the belts, who exactly can Canelo fight at MW which will make him huge money? There won't be anybody. He'll have to take CW fights or fight GG.

Canelo is not in the driving seat with a ton of great options.

                  • Canelo needs GGG to further his credibility as a good fighter in the sport, not much else. GGG needs Canelo for his biggest payday, exposure, an actual significant name on his resume and an to attempt to establish a significant legacy before getting to old. Yet team GGG wants a 60/40 deal in favor of Canelo? Lmao... Wtf? Canelo just sold over 50k tickets fighting a no name from another country in the US . This is hilarious. Team GGG actually believes they are on equal grounds.

Let's do Simple Math. Ggg will Stand to make $15-20 million after its all said and done. I'll make it easier for you. Against mayweather, Canelo made $5 million vs mayweathers $40 million. That means they made a combined $45 million which came out to Canelo 11% and mayweather 89% with Canelo bringing 2 JMW belts to the table. This fight also sold 2.1 million ppv's which was the highest sold ppv at the time. Next example: Canelo vs cotto- Canelo made $5 million vs cottos $15 million for a combined $20 million. Do the math. Canelo made 25% and cotto 75%. Are you still with me? Present day Canelo vs ggg. Ggg will make $15-$20 million vs Canelos $30-$40 million. This is all depends on how good the ppv sells. Let's do the math. Let's go low end (ggg) vs high end (canelo). If Canelo makes $40 million and ggg makes $15 million that's a combined total of $55 million. Ggg makes 27% and Canelo makes 73 %. Now let's look at GGG's high end vs Canelos low end. If ggg makes $20 million and Canelo makes $30 million that's a combined $50 million. Ggg gets 40% and Canelo gets 60%. Still following?! Now let's look at both fighters high end. If ggg gets $20 million and Canelo gets $40 million that's $60 million. Ggg gets 33% and Canelo gets 67%. This is as simple as I can explain it so you and every ggg fan can understand. 8 figures does not mean 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,or 9 million. It means a guaranteed at least $10 million right of the back plus a ppv percentage. Canelo took a guaranteed $5 million for cotto and mayweather. He's offering ggg at least double that for a fight that's not guaranteed to sell 2 million ppv's
                      It's very simple:

Give Canelo a larger percentage of the overall amount.

                      That's it.

A flat fee is horse manure.

Canelo can't make this kind of money with anyone else.

GG might own every MW belt come fight time.

Forget fights with Cotto etc. Different fight, different circumstances.

Canelo does not deserve a ridiculous amount of money more than GG.
