    You believe that?

This is what I mean. Kovalev and Ward didn't sign fight each other till after Ward fought Brand. And Duva was still panicking and flapping about terms not being agreed on right up till then. She also spent months negotiating with Roc before either man signed his HBO contract, btw.

That's the point of this thread, really.

Should anybody, including GGG, be taking an offer made a year before the fight is going to happen seriously?

I would say no. This is not a serious offer from GBP, it's a PR stunt.

BS from both sides. No fight.
"This is literally eight-figures, potential upside."

Clearly, the GBP spokesman is saying that GGG could potentially make an 8 figure sum, with the PPV upside. Not 8 figures plus upside, which is what Canelo fans are running with.

I'm worried this is Oscar trying to wriggle out of fighting GGG next Sept.

"Hey ... we made him an offer, and he turned it down, so now we're moving on ..."

well considering Canelo is injured and won't fight again and when he returns next year, likely in May, it will probably be a Brook fight or another tune up at 155...you're right, the fight is at least 12 months away. Who on earth can guarantee that?

GGG should just unify, clean up against Eubank and if need be, Jacobs and then go to 168.

Canelo/ODH are **** for this. No question. I am not gonna feel sorry for GGG when he keeps taking step aside money and then rejects an offer.

Yes I understand the timing is a year away. HBO is ok with it and is gonna give each BS opponents anyway.

Beercules is 100/% right- do what Floyd, Kovalev and others have done-call his bluff and take the BS deal, whin the fight, go on to bigger and better things.

Its like Hilary and Trump-I gotta choose between a cowardly fag and a faggoty coward.

I reckon K2 are waiting to see Canelo's PPV numbers with Smith before they respond to his offer. Look at it this way, and I don't think this is too far fetched - if Canelo/Smith bombs on HBO, say around 200/250k buys, proving that Canelo giving up his belt to GGG has reduced his drawing power - and K2 believe GGG could equal or better that number against Jacobs, then who is going to be the A side come next Sept ... GGG or Canelo?

If GGG knocks him out then Canelo's money making potential goes down even more. Oscar is scared of this fight until GGG has gone down hill a lot from age. The fight is about as big right now as it's ever going to get. Canelo is full grown and as big as he is ever going to be. He doesn't need practice fights to fight at 160. Oscar is stalling but he wants the public to think he is sincerely trying to make this fight but GGG won't take his generous offer. Meanwhile nobody knows the details of this offer. I think Khan got paid a lot more money to fight Canelo than Oscar is offering GGG.
