The man responsible for speaking on HBO's PPV business went to pains to use every euphemism possible to describe the event without actually being quoted saying a number.

If Canelo had made that offer when he was still WBC champ, GGG would have bitten his hand off. But things have changed now. Canelo isn't the champion any more, Golovkin is, and he probably already made 3x what he was paid for Lemieux against Brook.

The fight isn't going down for another year, and the money is still being negotiated. Let's be honest, if GGG was paid fairly for it he would be getting more than Canelo, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

There's no way in hell that Matchroom Sport paid Golovkin $6m to fight in the UK.

Oscar knew the question about a Golovkin fight would be asked and the "we made them an offer" answer was decided upon so Alvarez wouldn't look bad.
Most people realize it's not a serious offer.
