FACT or FICTION: Those who obsess over GGG not moving up in weight...

I want to see him go up to 168 because he'll be able to kick ass and build a legit legacy. No one currently at 168 is knocking him out. Hardcore fans don't seem to have the same faith in Golovkin that I do.

GGG hasn't fought a competitive fight in an eon. Now I enjoy watching him fight but he's too strong for anyone at the weight and certainly career welters. It's time to move up, if facing BJ Flounders facilitates that sooner then so be it, make it happen. Ain't no one at 168 stopping GGG, maybe he can be out pointed but I'm not even sure of that. Of all the title holders and contenders at 168 I look at Callum Smith as the biggest danger.

You left out the most important fact: all of these men have shown a reluctance to fight GGG. Since he can't get quality fights at 160, why not move up to 168?

Yes, there are some that want him to move up because he has a better chance to lose. Far more want him to move up because they do not want to see him in with overmatched blwon up JMW and WW who are willing to get their head bashed in for a huge check, since, again, the quality fights will not happen because those men will not fight him.

Guys who "respect the sport" who are in the sport are at a all time low in 2016 (or at least since I've been a fan cuz it probably was really f#cked up back back back in the day). And thats everyone, networks, commissions, alphabet groups, promoters, managers, trainers & boxers & everyone else in between those groups & the fans too.

People here don't understand that boxers only ever move up for 2 reasons: They can't make weight any longer OR they can make more money by moving.

Neither of those things apply to GGG. He makes 160 without any problem and, in case anybody hasn't noticed, 168 is just about the worst division in boxing right now in terms of big names and big money fights.

The winner of DeGale/Jack and possibly Zurdo Ramirez would be worth moving up for, but neither of those options will be available till next year.

Brook weighed in as a middleweight he was the same weight as a middleweight on the night of the fight too stop grasping at straws pathetically trying to demean something If anything Brook was bigger than GGG.

Would love to see GGG fight DeGale or Ramirez. If you'd rather have him fight Brook than those guys you just want easy fights for GGG.. Everyone thought Brook as an opponent for GGG was a joke. Then some of you tried to spin it like Brook was a middleweight fighting at WW. It was a mismatch. You guys are hypocrites just like the Floyd/Ward fans who hate non black boxers.

I hope GGG fights BJS & Jacobs then moves up. Canelo will never fight him so he should just give that up

He has called out every single MW holding a title and has been willing to fight every single one. Instead of blasting these other so-called "champs" for running and ducking, the critics blast GGG for not moving up to 168!

Then these same critics say that he's fought nothing but bums and is overrated, yet claim that there's no challenge for him in his own weight division and therefore should move up to put himself at a disadvantage in order to be challenged.

It depends. There are some posters who are dying to see him lose. Some even suggest he should move up to 175 to fight the winner of Kovalev-Ward. Yes I know, Brook moved up two weight classes to fight the best middleweight which automatically means that Golovkin should move up two weight classes to fight the best light heavyweight. Sure Golovkin deserves criticism for taking such a fight for a good payout but in no way does that obligate him to move two weight classes. The detractors are becoming angrier and more delusional by the day. They would literally ********** to Golovkin losing. They've become as bad as the Floyd detractors and that's saying a lot.

As for me, I'm a fan and I want to see him move up because there's not much for him at 160 after Jacobs and Saunders. But let's face it-- These guys don't do much for his legacy. Saunders may be great in the UK but in the US he's not, and Jacobs is really just a glorified undercard fighter. Both opponents have previously shown little confidence they'd beat Golovkin. They're only screaming for the fight now because he didn't look good against Brook.

Moving up to 168 would present a new challenge in it of itself. Plus I'm starting to think that Golovkin might be growing out of 160.

I'm a fan of his but i want him to move up simply because i don't think anyone at 160 will be a real challenge for him. That said, 168 isn't even that stacked these days. I can't see why he can't fight at 175 soon, other middleweights have done it and been successful.

I'm a fan of boxing more than any specific fighter though, so even the fighters i like i want to see them in the biggest tests possible. If they lose, so what. As long as it was entertaining, that's what matters in the end.

Of course some want him to move up because they want the best chance of him losing.

It was the same with Floyd, the people said he should fight GGG at MW are the only people that believe him v Golovkin is a fair fight and ignore the fact he would be severely undersized. They only want it because they want to see him lose.

This simply isn't true. Those men have been bashed constantly. Once that discussion has ended we move to what does GGG do when he can't get those men in the ring. They are 2 separate discussions.

I get that GGG fans only want the discussion to only be about those men not fighting him so there is no criticism of the decisions he and his team make after he is avoided or ducked.

Is it fair to limit the scope of the conversation just because it means you may have to be critical of a guy you like?
