Comments Thread For: Povetkin's Coach: We Are Not Overlooking Stiverne, He's Tough
Ivan Kirpa, trainer of Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin, says his boxer is expecting a tough bout with former world champion Bermane Stiverne, who is based in Las Vegas.
Really not sure what Stiverne has in the tank at this stage he looked pathetic vs Wilder and got dropped & arguably lost by all accounts to a journeyman last time out.
He's always had a bit of a sparring partner mentality going on really.
Povetkin will have some serious inactivity going on.
Its a good fight I guess, a lot of questions need answering.
Stiverne has a 0% chance of winning this fight. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he got KTFO.
I wouldn't say he has no chance Povetkin has a lot of wear & tear (35+ pro fights & hundreds of amateur fights well past his mid thirties) he's not exactly elusive and Stiverne can really crack.
Stiverne doesn't typically struggle with smaller, aggressive HWs

Stiverne is also just as old (37 years old like Povetkin), came in way above his normal weight and looked horrible against Derric Rossy.
Also, there's no doubt that Povetkin is a much more better fighter.
