On friday, Jacobs made $500,000... While Golovkin made $4-5 million...And the only people who care if he is or not are the ones who want to see him lose the most. Boxing fans like myself don't care if hes a "star". We pay to see a performance that he puts on. But whats funny is how people here will rag on these numbers of paid subscribers, but claim Danny Jacobs is a star for getting less than that, on "free tv"!
This place provides great entertainment sometimes.Comment

Looks like people are losing it because he got only 1.6m total viewers in HBO? Americans have this weird notion that they are the center of the world. Golovkin may not be a US superstar but he is a worldwide one. GGG made his career high money in this fight and his opponent, the same. If I had to make an educated guess, I would say he is pretty happy. Specially since he will do the same against Eubank or BJS in UK. Sometimes it feels like this forum is filled with the most ******ed bunch of society.Comment

True dat, but isn't it funny how some boxers want to take that woman-like stance when it comes to making a fight?Comment

And they act like GGG would be the huge A-side in a fight with Ward. "Ward can't draw flies to ****" they said. It's funny because with all GGG's promotion and push from the media, and him fighting 3 times a year he is still not getting ratings that prove he is a bigger star than Ward.Kovalev is fighting Ward on PPV in Vegas (where GGG has never fought). The first 36 hours of their tickets being on sale has sold more than GGG's highest gate. And people are doubting he'd be a bigger star if he fought Ward? No wonder some of these people failed at promoting.Comment

Motorcity Cobra already posted the grand total that factors in both afternoon and evening with returning viewers and 1st time watchers. 1.43 viewers overall watched, that's the number. If you don't like I suggest you get a life and stop spamming Red K because everyone doesn't agree with you idiotic views. The time is the time. Whenever there is an afternoon fight we do not add replay numbers.
Numbers are not added because the program is completely different. At 5:30, people tuned in to watch GGG/Brook, the only fight. In the evening, they tuned n to see Gonzalez/Cuadras, kamegi/Soto Karass2 and GGG/Brook.
You are utterly disgraceful for trying to add the numbers. If GGG's numbers were lower then expected, just deal with it like a man.
You can't be serious. You do not combine numbers unless you are tryng to artificially inflate GGG's numbers because they are lower then expected.
You should be ashamed.Comment

I disgaree. Defeating a fighter as respected as Ward would help increase GGG's star power. It wouldn't be like defeating ODH or Floyd, but it would definitely raise it some."legacy" and "star power" are 2 entirely different things. The question was about star power, not legacy. Beating Ward does nothing for GGGs "star power", because Ward himself is not a "star". Of course it adds to his legacy, but that is not what the conversation was about.......Comment
