  • Just finished watching GGG vs Kell Brook, and....

Brook's trainer is freaking smart as hell for throwing in the towel right there. What do you want him to keep taking punishing shots from GGG, and taking years off the prim of his career, thus losing money for him and his trainer in the long run, or live to fight another day, and keep Brook's physical condition intact for the prime of his career where he can continue to make good money for 6-7 more fights, instead of being shot, and losing a bunch of his next fights, because of the war he potentially could've gone through with GGG.

This is real life, this ain't a video game. The condition of these athletes are the #1 thing, and with a ruined athlete, you miss out on a **** ton of money. It's like a race car. You don't red line the thing for an entire race, instead, you concede defeat in order to maintain the car, and be able to use it for future races.

If Brook would've continued, fight fans would've said, "wow, fight of the year, Brook is a warrior!", meanwhile he's sitting in a hospital bed, and the prime of his career is cut short, because he went those extra rounds with GGG. His trainer is a damn smart man, and looked out for the big picture for the both of them. He knows Brook is gonna be his only big name fighter he might ever train for the rest of his career, so why the hell would you ruin him?

    Bravo to the trainer.

Also, not to mention Brook's right eye was almost closed shut. You'd have to be insane to let your fighter continue fighting GGG with one eye.

Or the fact that he's still fighting.

Yeah, seriously, Garcia is one of the dumber trainers when it comes to that, but you also have to understand the fan base of guys like Marg, and Rios. Them getting clobbered is like half the appeal to their fans. Also, at that point, Margs was just cashing in. He wasn't gonna be relevant anymore, regardless.

But yeah, even with all that, Garcia is a dumb ass trainer.

it was about to get ugly, they were satisfied with how he looked in the first 5 rounds and were like, we will take that, and the check, lets gtfoh.

I think that when GGG broke Brooks orbital bone in the 3rd and Brook signaled his corner, they should have stopped it then because it was only probably fractured or cracked.
He went fighting and the thing ended up shattered, and probably beyond a repair job that would enable Brook to continue a boxing career.

I'm pretty sure that Brook's career is over.

As many have said this here on numerous thread, the most logical reasoning behind the towel was a pre-planned intention of making Brook exit the fight on his feet and take him him seconds before he's about to sleep.
Also , Brook himself gave up as Roy Jones Jr who was near their corner told us and that the corner took it on themselves with all the dramatization.
And its not like he didnt take a beating, the guy still ended up in hospital. Damn.

A doctor from Harvard, forgot his name, said that had the fight been allowed to continue, Brook could have died that night. Great decision by the corner, it was just a savage beating.
