This won't go to purse bid. It is really in nobody's best interest for it to go to purse bid except maybe a wealthy Russian Promoter.

If Jacobs wants the fight, which he says he does, the fight will happen.

Every promoter that has worked with Loeffler, says that he is very reasonable and easy to work with.

Jacobs will be making 7 figures regardless, and there is a good chance he will be fighting at home. Take the money and take the risk for your shot at stardom.

This fight likely does business on par w/ Lemieux...GGG is the draw vs a guy with limited name recognition. Purse bids will be similar, and Jacobs vacates because of the $$

Lemmy got 1.5m as a primary titleholder who has a fan base in MTL.
Jacobs wants more than 1.5m as a secondary title holder with a following in NYC.

To Jacobs, the value in this fight is the $$$, then the belts and recognition. As a mandatory challenger, he is free to vacate his regular title, but where does he go from there? A fight vs BJS for less money and less risk of getting beat the eff up? Waiting till GGG falls off?

That wba regular is really the only thing keeping Jacobs relevant, him being a potential foe for GGG. Without it...nada.

K2 have never had any issues with Haymon and both sides handled the GGG-Wade situation between them rather than go to purse bid. I think the same thing happens here because as others stated above Jacobs isn't getting above $2M if K2 win the purse bid but we know K2 are willing to offer more than that in negotiations.

But to answer the Q I'd say $5M. I don't think the fight would make that much no matter who promoted it or what platform carried it but they'd probably be willing to pay a bit over the odds. PBC/LDB went to $5M for the Wilder fight, it'd be surprising if they went that high for this one.

The trick to selling this fight is a strong undercard.

Golovkin vs. Jacobs [ 7 million purse split 75/25]
Crawford vs. Broner [ 6 million split 50/50]
Stiverne vs Big Baby Miller [2 million split 50/50]
Kovalev vs. Stevenson [5 million split 60/40]
Briggs vs. Haye [ 3.5 million split 50/50]
Callum Smith vs. Badou Jack [ 1.5 million]

Thats 25 million in purses. At $40.00 a pop it would do 2 million viewers, I know I'd buy it. 2 million buys might be low too.

The **** talking and hype would be through the roof.

I'd pick Jacobs, Crawford, Stiverne, Kovalev, Briggs, and Smith to win.

Thats why I said 2 million buys might be low, it could set records at a cheap 40.00 a buy.

that's the kind of cards MMA does, and what boxing needs. but these promoters and their egos.

Jacobs doesn't really provide any value beyond being a mandatory challenger. Why would K2 potentially lose money to sweeten the pot for DJ? A win for GGG does nothing but satisfy WBA obligation and some hardcore fans. K2 could definitely play hardball. but I'd like to see this fight.
