Ortiz would've taken the fight, but wants vada testing not WADA who the Russians have in their pockets. It's a legit concern for ortiz and his campaign, but in all honesty, he would still KO a roided-up Ustinov in 5-6 rounds
WADA who are responsible for Russia's international suspensions are in their pockets?
Could be a smart move by Ortiz. Now he can get a WBC eliminator instead!
He's not even in their rankings. He's not in the top 40 unless that changes in Sept. He did beat Jennings in late 2015 who is WBC #8. He has to win a few fights before he will be ranked. All guys ahead of Jennings have fights schedule except for David Haye & Duhaupas. He had a good route to a huge payday if he beat Ustinov. I don't know what his team is doing. Gives up an HBO slot/title eliminator to do what?
Ustinov, like all boxers, should've been willing to agree to better testing and it's su****ious that he didn't. He did nothing to earn a shot and the WBA shouldn't have given him one and should be supporting better testing like WBC are.
Aside from that though, I don't get why Ortiz wanted better testing on someone who has so far been clean but not of Thompson who has been caught twice in recent years?
Ortiz's side have said that they signed... but its ustinov's side that doesnt want vada testing smh
If they wanted VADA testing it would have had to have been negotiated as part of the contract. You cant agree to terms, get the contract, and then say you signed it but you want to change it.
I don't disagree with calling for VADA testing and stuff, but this is not the correct way to go about it (Jean Pascal did the same thing with Hopkins).
And, as others have stated, he's not fighting Povetkin here, he fighting freakin Ustinov, who he should be able to steamroll even if Ustinov is on that a-side meth.

The fight was never negotiated that's why it went to purse bid, the winner sent the contract, and Ortiz team sent and *********.
Maybe that why this fight that suppose to happen month ago couldn't never get to an agreement he was with Golden Boys.
