He sounds excited for the opportunity. Don't think he's in bed with Haymon like DiBella for example. There's some animosity there, he's not happy about Haymon signing some of his guys and dabbling in his domestic market

I think he does so his guys can play on both sides of the street. Though at HBO, Brook's pickings are slim. 147 just Bradley. 154-160 Lemieux, Stevens, Rosado, Kirkland. 155 Canelo.

Take that offer to Showtime. HBO seems like they only have a handful of fighters, which only seems to cause complications down the line when you're trying to match up and put together bigger fights.

There's a big difference between interest and actually putting money on the table

HBO has Saul Alvarez as basically the only thing they can for sure offer to Brook (Cotto doesn't have too many fights left and has no loyalty to HBO, if we're being honest, beyond chasing the biggest paycheck; you add that Ward's HBO deal is done with the Kovalev fight, and I have no doubt that Showtime is likely to put out offers to Roc Nation. Beyond that, Showtime is basically aligned with every other top 154 fighter in the top 15, with three of the belts in the Showtime orbit).

There's no doubt that Showtime, once it's clear that everything with Brook's eye is okay, has the same conversation with Eddie Hearn about Brook, with Showtime possibly actually putting the money on the table shortly thereafter.

There's no danger of Ward going to showtime. Beterbiev and Stevenson are both there. Ward had to fight Kovalev in order to get his cushy tuneup paydays on HBO, but if he beats Kovalev, he won't voluntarily fight those guys just like he wouldn't voluntarily fight Kovalev until HBO mandated he fight Kovalev, sent him to BET when he tried to call their bluff to show they were serious, and then locked him into a contract with Kovalev before ever airing his fights again. I mean if he wanted to go to Showtime, that would have been the time. Instead he went to BET. He would rather go to BET than go near Beterbiev or Stevenson.

He was expected to lose and he lost.

Just when things were beginning to get really really ugly they threw in the towel. No complaint from Brook.

                    Nice cash out fight.

In the meantime he still owns the WW belt and has his mandatory to deal with in Errol Spence. No easy task!

Lets see what he decides to do.

Brook VS Canelo would be a very good fight! I feel that 154 is the perfect weight for Brook. He'll retain his speed & power at 154. It will be a goof PPV as I think Canelo vs Smith won't do well in PPV.
