Good for him but any exclusive deal with HBO I think is BAD because it automatically eliminates him from potential match ups with others at 154

With three belts around his waist and the Kovalev fight done with, the biggest fight for Andre Ward, for legacy and financially, would be the unification fight against Adonis Stevenson (in Montreal, NYC, or Vegas; basically wherever GYM/RNS can find the biggest financial package for the fight). There's no danger of Ward going to showtime. Beterbiev and Stevenson are both there. Ward had to fight Kovalev in order to get his cushy tuneup paydays on HBO, but if he beats Kovalev, he won't voluntarily fight those guys just like he wouldn't voluntarily fight Kovalev until HBO mandated he fight Kovalev, sent him to BET when he tried to call their bluff to show they were serious, and then locked him into a contract with Kovalev before ever airing his fights again. I mean if he wanted to go to Showtime, that would have been the time. Instead he went to BET. He would rather go to BET than go near Beterbiev or Stevenson.
With HBO obligations fully dealt with (as Ward continued to work with HBO during his time out of the ring, I sincerely have doubts that he was free to talk to Showtime, even if he wanted to; with Roc Nation basically paying for the BET time out of their pocket, Ward didn't really fight for BET anyway), Ward's free to look for the best deal for he and his camp.
Showtime has a deeper stable of possible fights at 175 (and more meaningful fights) than HBO does, so acting as if Ward has no options beyond HBO is silly.Comment

I imagine they would be, Brook gave a good account of himself. I can't think of any other situation where a guy loses by tko early in a fight and still doesn't appear like the loser...Brook showed a lot of good qualities versus Golovkin and in hindsight it's probably for the best the fight was stopped when it was. Hopefully the orbital bone heals well and there aren't repercussions to the future of his career.
HBO is probably interested in Canelo-Brook, and that's the next biggest fight for Brook so I could see him signing a 3 fight deal or some such thing. Brook's stock has gone up here and even abroad.Last edited by SCEN3RY; 09-11-2016, 07:24 PM.Comment

I think Hearn is full of himself.
HBO would be interested in Brook on the basis of this fight? Really.
Guy just took the worse shellacking of his career and may never be the same again and HBO is interested in him on the basis of .....what?
This is beyond comical with all due respect to Brooks.
Calm down people.
How about matching him with the elites in his own weight class for crying out loud.
His resume is crying out for quality.
Once again respect to him but really folks he lost and lost very badly and got paid handsomely for it while still holding on to his belt.Comment

Brook is a very good investment. He's skilled, powerful, and is marketable.
HBO has had a down year and Peter Nelson needs to look to the future.
Fans forget that they have Canelo, GGG, Ward, Kovalev, and I'm assuming Roman Gonzalez to contracts. Which I'm assuming they already have set figures they make per fight which doesn't help them with their budgets.
They need to adjust there systems to compete and move forward.Comment

Good for Kell Brook! He should make Cotto his primary target! Bradley @ 154 wouldn't be a bad move either! Showtime/PBC would have gave him more options @ 154. However a Cotto win, followed by a shot @ Canelo, could be very lucrative!Comment
